Job Title: Senior Drupal Demo Engineer

About Your Team

Demo Team is the R&D, Operations & Technical Enablement function of Presales. 


We provide Solution Engineers the right tools, training and support to deliver competition-crushing, deal-winning demos while minimizing toil and maximizing velocity. We stock the supplies, build the bridges, destroy the obstacles, and ensure clear paths and safe passage for our SEs every time they get in front of a customer to demo.


 Our team not only develops, maintains and enhances core demo assets and infrastructure, but serves as an innovation center as well where new ideas and prototypes help shape the direction of new products and solutions.


As a member of the Demo Team, you’ll work cross functionally in a dynamic environment with other Demo Team members in the US, and Acquians around the world. You’ll have the opportunity to provide critical support in the closure of new business and influence the roadmap of one of the fastest growing tech companies around.

The Opportunity

Demo Engineers specialise in designing and implementing solutions for demo scenarios. We are the developers who make the technically challenging possible using our extensive product, platform, and technology expertise. Demo Engineers are responsible for building acquired expertise on all Acquia products and leverage their technical and interpersonal skills to effectively manage the demo builds, in collaboration with Solution Engineers, for our customers.


We are looking for a Demo Engineer primarily focused on Drupal, to support, enhance and build new Demo assets and tooling. This is your chance to join a growing regional Demo team that makes a direct impact on the day to day happiness and effectiveness of our Sales Engineers, provides innovation and critical feedback to our Product teams, and ultimately drives the overall growth of our company.


In this role, we need someone who


 Will operate, maintain and improve our Demo assets environments, including monitoring, Drupal patching, regular releases, and documentation


  • Will architect, design, and build end-to-end Drupal Cloud demos that cross multiple solutions and platforms, both Acquia and 3rd party
  • Understands and implements the newest Drupal Cloud features in our demos and keeps up with the fast pace of Acquia product releases. This is an environment where you are always learning.
  • Troubleshoots issues with the demo environments and collaborates with teams as needed to resolve them
  • Builds, creates & maintains related demo enablement assets - scripts, videos, how-tos
  • Has top-notch communications skills - spoken and written, 1 on 1 as well as in large team settings (in person and remote)
  • Collaborates with Demo Team leaders and other cross functional groups in North America and Europe during US ET hours
  • Understands technology-agnostic end to end software development, operations & maintenance best practices
  • Actively engages in architecture discussions and planning
  • Participates in cross-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other teams
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in software development (fullstack), PHP, Javascript, HTML CSS and Git 3+ years of Drupal 7/8/9/10  site building and development experienceExperienced with Drupal Symfony, Composer and Drush
  • Exposure with automated testing and scripting such as Selenium.
  • Exposure of working directly with US and European teams
  • Capable of being autonomous with good debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in communicating with users, non-technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
  • Experienced working with multiple developers on a single codebase, i.e., Github/lab, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Able to perform peer review on team members’ code
  • Awareness and experienced with Drupal community interactions and standard methodologies
  • Skilled at collaborating with team members and partners in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be nimble, proactive, comfortable working with minimal specifications
  • Willingness to share your ideas, give feedback and propose creative solutions to Demo Team leadership
  • Experience with short release cycles
  • Masters / Bachelors degree required in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology Management or Equivalent Experience
Extra Credit
  • Acquia Certified Site Builder or Developer
  • Presales experience (as a Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, Demo Engineer, or Solutions Architect or Solutions Consultant)
  • Cloud Ops and hosting (e.g., Amazon Web Services)
