Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Quality Analyst to join our team who will have the opportunity to champion our Global Finance Services Division.


 The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India


 What you will do


Job Roles and Responsibilities


  • If you are driven and want to make a difference with your problem-solving and data quality skills, adept at gathering requirements and working with key stakeholders and leaders to understand their DQ challenges, building complex DQ rules to accomplish the data quality thresholds needed by business.
  • Have a keen sense of urgency in resolving the critical DQ issues and deploy a robust end to end remediation process.
  • This role ultimately acts as a driving force behind building an industry leading DQ engine and remediation process to achieve data adoption and promote trusted data within Caterpillar Finance data platforms.
  • The overall goal is to ensure the data quality meets the expectations needed for the business and that the data is governed and managed to meet brand, legal, information security & privacy, and document retention standards.
  • Be an expert with data quality tools and industry practices and know how to incorporate advanced analytics into data quality and data management.
  • Good requirement-gathering skills and experience as a technical business analyst.
  • Know the DQ framework and approach in the context of financial data
  • Good with documentation and creating process maps – for example - technical design documents, Requirement Docs, BRDs, Project Plan, Status Decks, etc.
  • Good communication and relation-building skills to engage stakeholders. 
  • Tactile with a strategic vision to scale DQ solution.
  • Go-getter and a problem solver.

Technical Skills


Snowflake and Snowpark:


  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions using Snowflake.
  • Strong proficiency in Snowpark for developing data processing pipelines and tasks.

Python and SQL:


  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation, transformation, and analysis.

  • Ability to write complex queries and scripts to automate data quality processes.

Power BI:


  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Ability to integrate data quality measures & KPIs into Power BI visualizations.

Alation Data Governance (Nice to Have):


  • Familiarity with Alation data cataloging tool for metadata management and data governance.
  • Experience using Alation for data discovery, documentation, and collaboration.

 Data Quality Frameworks and DQ Development:


  • Strong understanding of data quality principles and experience implementing data quality frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of DQ dimensions and how to create reusable mapplets/rules for easy scalability
  • Knowledge of data profiling, cleansing, and enrichment techniques.
  • Expert at developing custom DQ rules using SQL/Python scripts, adept at building complex DQ engine to support business needs.

Version Control:
Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git, for managing code and configuration changes.


 Collaboration Tools:


  • Experience using collaboration tools like Jira or similar for task tracking and project management.

 Database Skills:


  • Solid understanding of relational DB and datalake warehouse concepts and experience working with various databases.

 Scripting and Automation:


  • Ability to create and maintain automated scripts for data validation and cleansing.
  • Strong experience with process automation using AL/ML techniques

Troubleshooting and Optimization:


  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to optimize and enhance existing data solutions.
  • Manages data quality issues across master data and transactions data domains and meets service level agreements for incident and request management.
  • Analyzes code, logs, and current systems as part of advanced troubleshooting.

What you will have 


  • Candidate should have 5-8 years of data management & quality experience or other equivalent job experiences.
  • The position requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience.
  • Background would include working experience with Query writing, data analysis and other analytical tools. Full Office Product knowledge is required.
  • The position requires solid knowledge of company products, services, product applications, and business models, as well as a global business understanding.
  • Data quality certification preferred.
  • DAMA – DMBOK certification preferred.

 Skills desired:


  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
     

Level Extensive Experience:
• Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.
• Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.
• Supervises the advanced use of requirements analysis tools and services, including prototyping and use cases.
• Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.
• Trains others on requirements walkthroughs and quality reviews.
• Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.


  • System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.
     

Level Extensive Experience:
• Designs and develops applications or technology interfaces and bridges.
• Documents existing best practices for system or technology integration processes.
• Identifies and quantifies risks of proposed alternatives to a system or technology integration initiative.
• Delivers training on major issues, interfaces, considerations and potential pitfalls and risks.
• Discusses with line areas on data, technology and application integration issues.
• Advises others in how to integrate projects across multiple technologies.


Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
 


Level Extensive Experience:
• Manages application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
• Evaluates key interfaces and interdependencies among core applications systems.
• Explains features and benefits of core applications for consideration by business units.
• Implements existing and planned application enhancements in major business units.
• Tracks data flow between own applications and core applications in other business areas.
• Plans enhancement, conversion, and retirement strategies for core applications.
