Job Summary:
The Sr. Construction Coordinator (CC) will be responsible for the home office construction coordination on assigned projects, which includes constructability reviews, safety in design, value engineering, providing construction’s input to engineering and procurement teams to improve Total Installed Cost (TIC) on the projects, inputs to maximizing modularization and preassemblies. Advise engineering of latest construction technology, local practices/preferences to save cost, time on the project and provide easy to build and economical design solutions. Support construction management activities such as preconstruction planning, execution strategies for large and complexes Data Center and high end industrial facilities type projects.
The Sr. CC serves as a vital link between Construction and other project functions like Engineering, Procurement, Contracts and Project Controls; the CC ensures that Construction requirements are communicated to the project team and project team receives Construction’s input in a timely manner.

- Receives technical and operational supervision from Chief Construction Engineer or India Office Manager of Construction or designee.
Supervision Exercised
- Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate construction engineers if assigned.
Contacts
- Interface with the engineering design functional group, procurement and contracts, project controls, quality and project estimation and project proposal teams.
- Jobsite contacts are with Site Manager, Project Field Engineer, Field Engineers/Superintendents, and other support disciplines.
- Construction teams of contractors, other stakeholder and customer organization.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Implement constructability program and provide constructability plan to project members on assigned project in collaboration with project and GBU construction teams.
- Representing Construction function in Project model reviews, project progress review meetings.
- Lead and conduct constructability workshops to project teams.
- Develop constructability concepts, prepare project specific constructability program, and provide guidance to the design efforts during early phase of the project.
- Participate in design development and suggest economical construction details for incorporation into the design and specifications by utilizing Construction Lessons Learned from other projects and best practices.
- Support construction related technical bid evaluations, technical bid queries from suppliers , construction contractors.
- Implement “Design for Safe Construction”, support construction productivity initiatives on the project, including effective implementation of datacentric construction and other work processes.
- Coordinate with Engineering to ensure Engineering deliverables are issued to support the construction schedule.
- Review Interdisciplinary deliverables from Engineering and Procurement, providing construction input on Constructability, Safe Construction and TIC perspective.
- Identify potential problem areas or trends, develop total installed cost estimates and address continues improvement issues.
- Coordinate constructability issues of vendor drawings, shop fabrication details, construction procedures.
- Review design (3D Model and 2D drawings), suggest preassembly and modularization ideas and provide construability inputs as per the work process procedures.
- Maintain effective interface between construction teams at other Bechtel offices and jobsites ensuring construction knowledge, lessons learned, construction initiatives are effectively communicated.
- Monitor completeness of engineering data in construction applications.
- Understand and implement work breakdown structure, work packaging philosophy. Scoping and preparation of Installation work packages, Test Packages, material take-off.
- Implement Advanced Work Packaging on the project.
- Assist preparation of construction manuals, field non-manual support proposal, internal desktop procedure.
- Review project proposals and assist project development team and estimation team with construction input on construction schedule, manpower, equipment, modularization & preassembly suggestions and project execution plan.
- Support automation development programs related to construction.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum 20 years of relevant experience, or 25 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven construction experience on large Data Center, special industry type projects is mandatory.
- Experience in PMC and Construction Management leadership role is mandatory.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with multiple nationalities.
- Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to the discipline interfacing with all areas.
- Prior experience working in a field engineering or field supervision position in an organization supporting direct-hire work /subcontract is preferred.
- Experience of Advance work packaging (AWP) process is desired.
- Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
- Prior experience in project early works, Temporary Construction Facilities development, Site set-up.
- Prior experience with using tools and software’s related to Construction planning, proposals, execution, and monitoring is preferred.
- Ability to travel to domestic and international job sites on short-term or long-term assignments.
