Senior Benefits Specialist
**APAC regional benefits experience along with deep understanding of Indian benefits regulations (EPF, ESI, Gratuity, etc.), and familiarity with broader APAC compliance standards, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong**
Conducts advanced complex analyses of benefits programs in order to evaluate external competitiveness and legal compliance of the organization's benefit practices. Researches benefit plans and providers and makes recommendations. Develops benefit programs and may lead in the administration of programs. Reviews benefit costs to ensure compliance with company budget
Key Responsibilities
Requires minimal instruction on daily tasks, with general guidance provided for new projects. Supports APAC regional benefits initiatives with a primary focus on India, ensuring alignment with local regulations and global strategies
Deep understanding of Indian benefits regulations (EPF, ESI, Gratuity, etc.), and familiarity with broader APAC compliance standards, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
• Ability to manage both local and regional benefit needs, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and competitiveness within the market.
• Skilled in balancing local market demands with regional/global benefits strategies.
India-Focused:
• Administers and develops benefit programs for India, ensuring compliance with local laws such as EPF, ESI, Gratuity, Superannuation, and Maternity Benefit Act.
• Coordinates with Indian vendors for health insurance and wellness programs. • Analyzes new benefit offerings, including parental leave and wellness programs, to meet the changing needs of the Indian workforce.
APAC Regional Oversight (High-Level):
• Provides high-level guidance and oversight for benefits administration across select APAC regions such as Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Hong Kong.
• Ensures that APAC region benefits programs are aligned with both global corporate strategies and local statutory requirements (e.g., Australia’s Superannuation Guarantee, Singapore’s Central Provident Fund, etc.).
• Works with local HR teams across APAC countries to audit, analyze, and improve the overall benefits experience and legal compliance.
• Stays informed of regional market trends and evolving regulatory requirements, adapting programs accordingly
Knowledge
Advanced understanding of Indian labor laws and statutory benefit programs, with knowledge of broader APAC region regulations to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
• Familiarity with regional benefits benchmarking for APAC, understanding how benefits like healthcare, retirement, and wellness programs vary across these markets
• Able to handle high level of confidentiality regarding employee information. Advanced planning, time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information and ideas so others will understand. Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups. Ability to provide FANATICAL support
Proven ability to manage multiple vendors and benefit programs across different countries, with a primary focus on India and APAC. • Strong ability to communicate complex benefits across diverse cultures and markets. • Demonstrated ability to consistently provide FANATICAL support
Experience
Typically requires 8-10 years of experience in HR, with a primary focus on benefits management in India and additional experience in APAC regions
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Liberal Arts (Psychology, Sociology, etc), Industrial Relations, or Organizational Development
May require certifications in Indian labor laws, with added knowledge of APAC compliance standards being an advantage.
