Role Definition:


An exciting opportunity exists in the Caterpillar BCP India team for a Validation Engineer . With responsibility for test and validation activity, the role involves assembling and executing cross functional validation plans spanning several years, to prove out the functionality and reliability of construction machines.


Responsibilities


  • Organize & facilitate DFMEA (Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis) activity with the wider design team
  • Work with test team to construct and execute test and validation plans based on the DFMEA output, to mitigate the risks identified
  • Provide regular status reports to NPI (New Product Introduction) teams, identifying key issues and actions needed to resolve
  • Maintain a detailed project plan governing the test and validation activity
  • Work with design teams and reliability engineers to drive the closure of functional and reliability issues found during test and validation
  • Participate in NPI Design Reviews to critique new designs in terms of risks and ways to validate / mitigate
  • Participate in NPI Gateway Reviews to present the validation status against the NPI program requirements
  • Oversee the fleet of machines, scheduling regular maintenance, and arrange to scrap or sell as appropriate
  • Offer guidance and advice to the design teams regarding test and validation
  • Coordinate with test facilities on the design, development and construction of test apparatus and procedures

  • Effectively performs technical job aspects, continuously builds knowledge, and keeps up-to-date on technical and procedural job components.
  • Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one's general area of technical competence.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organise, monitor, and control projects.


Level Working Knowledge:


  • Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
  • Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.
  • Assists in detailed project plans, including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organisational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.


Level Basic Understanding:


  • Describes and follows all policies, standards and procedures.
  • Obtains documentation and information on standards and their usage.

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor's / Master's degree (or equivalent) in any accredited Engineering


Experience:


Preferred 8 years of relevant experience can be negotiated based on the skill level.
