Job Description:


As businesses leverage digitalization opportunities, their cyber-attack surface structurally increases, which can lead to business disruptions, data breaches and brand damage. Cyber-attacks can cause damage to reputations, destruction of assets and loss of information. Shell is taking actions to detect and respond to the continuous flow of these types of attacks.
 


What’s the role


As a Security Engineer, your role will be focusing on assessing and deploying new technologies and innovations and able to embed and integrate into the other CyberDefence capabilities like Threat Intel, Digital Forensics and Insider Risk and Detect&Respond.


As part of the Information Risk Management function, the CyberDefence capability has specific focus on identifying cyber threats, discovery of IT vulnerabilities, monitoring for cyber intrusions and response to security incidents.


The digital transformation strategy of Shell requires an increasingly flexible, agile and secure IT environment in order to enable best use of data, cloud services, personalization of user experience and connectivity of devices.
 
 What you’ll be doing


  • Perform as Security Engineer in the CyberDefence Demand & Automation team which has the following areas of focus: Serve as the technical SME for the CyberDefence tools and Data. SME specialized in Cyber security tools and overall security Landscape for all technologies used by CyberDefence team ranging from SIEM, SOAR, XDR, Forensics tools, End Points protection, Vulnerability Management and pen-testing tools, etc.
  • Drive continued development and improvements to our Splunk & Sentinel SIEM and data analytics environment and apply engineering techniques to optimize the use of Cyber Data for Cyber Teams.
  • Be closely involved through the life cycle of the technology, ranging from experimentation and pilot to development and deployment, and the operation and transition to support. Work with CyberDefence teams and natural team of Architects, Portfolio, SOMs, Vendors to embed the technology and ensure that new cyber security requirements can effectively be implemented.
  • Support and develop other CyberDefence Engineers with experience and best practices in a continuous learning environment.
  • As part of the CISO function, the CyberDefence capability has specific focus on identifying cyber threats, discovery of IT vulnerabilities, monitoring for cyber intrusions and response to security incidents.
  • Work on special projects to assess and deploy new technologies and innovations and able to embed and integrate into the other CyberDefence capabilities.
  • Act as Security and Data Engineer for our Splunk Environment to optimize data structures supporting complex use cases, applying machine learning and bringing in best practices from external sources.
  • Support or produce high quality deliverables in terms of both content and presentation. Examples of deliverables include: assessments, gap analyses, improvement recommendations, presentations and reasoned arguments to improve security posture.
  • This position supports the overall goals and objectives of the CyberDefence Demand & Automation team.
  • This role reports to the CyberDefence Demand & Automation Lead. This role does not have any direct reports.
     

What you bring


  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT Security
  • Proficiency in assessing projects to understand digital platform security architecture requirements and impact
  • Assess and Recommend Digital Platform/Cloud security improvements to projects
  • Familiarity with the platforms and tools used in operations teams to manage the end point estate.
  • Ability to write high quality assessment debrief presentations and detailed technical reports for multiple audiences up to and including executives.
  • Carry out assignments and projects, alone or as part of a team, applying knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Strong team player, must be able to work with others and contribute to help solve complex issues
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of commercial Digital Platform/Cloud solutions used to deliver commercial enterprise solutions including cloud environments especially Azure and AWS.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the issues of interest to Shell and proposes viable solutions within the scope of own expertise, considering the needs of those affected.
  • Maintains knowledge and experience of current practice within own area of expertise and is aware of current developments within own area of expertise.
  • Completed Bachelor of Science or higher in Computer Science or similar.
     

Technical Skills:


  • Coding or scripting experience – perl, python, jscript, C++, PowerShell, SPL, KQL
  • Preferably has proven experience with Big Data architecture / technology, implementation and operation of SPLUNK
  • Possesses any of the following certifications are preferred but not required: CISSP, CCSP, CCSK.
