The Axial Programme will be powered by S/4HANA a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which will be implemented right across the organisation and will provide our business with standardised processes, enhanced financial management, common data and real time reporting, transforming the way we work through our entire supply chain - from bench to patient.


The new system will be used by more than 20,000 employees daily, is foundational to all AZ entities and is central to most core business processes.  This is a once in a generation programme for AstraZeneca and will shape our ways of working globally for many years to come.

Lead the future of analytics service management at AstraZeneca as we revolutionize our SAP ecosystem. Oversee the transition to a cutting-edge SAP analytics stack, supporting 20,000+ users and re-engineering 1,500+ processes. Shape world-class service operations, from initial readiness to transformative automation, and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, high-impact analytics capabilities globally.


We are looking for a leader who can shape the service management of analytics on AstraZeneca’s new SAP analytics stack.


The Axial program is replacing seven legacy SAP ECC systems with one S/4 HANA system. As part of that implementation, we are re-engineering 1,500+ processes for 20,000+ users. We are also building a brand-new SAP analytics stack using SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud. We have an ambitious vision for rolling out high quality industrialised analytics for critical use cases, alongside brilliant self-serve capabilities. The first release will be in Q4 2025. We need an experienced leader who can take the stack into service, shaping ways of working and processes. You need to be a forward-looking leader who deliver world class service on the stack.


Initially activities will be rather prosaic, including service introduction, business readiness assessments. In time the potential for transformative change is significant: automating change management processes; transparent SLA monitoring; integrating service management, quality and release management; digitising incident management.


Essential experience and skills:


  • In depth knowledge of service management (processes, metrics, standards etc).


  • Great comms skills.


Desirable experience and skills:


  • Service management qualifications,


  • Enterprise scale systems running 24x7 globally,


  • Globally distributed teams and customers,


  • Regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, GxP, SOX, GDPR)


  • Strong influencing skills,


  • Pharmaceutical industry experience


  • Experience of manufacturing, supply chain, distribution,


  • Experience of finance processes (R2R, P2P, O2C etc),


  • SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud,


  • Team leadership and team building.
