Job Description for Revit Designer


Purpose of the Job:


The purpose of this position is to create and maintain Revit Family which represent Herman Miller's product offering. The Revit Families are used for the specification of the Herman Miller furniture family of products in specification software such as CAD pack, 2020, project symbols, etc.


Shift Timing: 12.00 to 9.00 P.M.


Essential Functions:


1. Revit Family Creation:


  • Develop complex parametric Revit families for architectural projects.
  • Optimize families for performance and usability within project workflows.

2. Design Documentation:


  • Produce accurate and detailed Revit models, adhering to project standards.
  • Support team members in integrating Revit families into project designs.

3. Collaboration & Coordination:


  • Work closely with engineers and product management teams to understand the project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM execution plans and project-specific requirements.
  • Perform as first level support for the team's technology support email/phone line responding to user problems and questions.
  • Capable of understanding client’s/dealer’s requirements and communicate with them fluently during various stages of the projects.

4. Quality Assurance:


  • Perform audits and quality checks on Revit families to ensure adherence to industry and company standards.
  • Maintain a library of reusable Revit families and components.

5. Technical Support & Training:


  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff on family creation and usage.
  • Stay updated with Revit software updates and BIM trends.

Minimum Requirement


1. Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field, Production/Industrial Engineering or relevant academic discipline strongly preferred.

2. Experience:


  • 4–7 years of experience in Revit family creation and design in architectural, structural, or MEP disciplines.
  • Creating parametric models, using parameters, constraints, and reference planes, nesting components and setting up parametric arrays, Applying materials, Formula and shared Parameter.
  • Experience working in Python, Dynamo scripting for Revit. AutoCAD, Photoshop and 3Dx Max is a valuable addition.
  • Proficiency in Revit (latest version) with advanced knowledge of family creation and parametric design.
  • Familiarity with BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and structural systems.
  • Certification in Autodesk Revit is a plus
  • Advanced technical knowledge and conceptual understanding of the current Revit system(s) used within the functional area.
  • Experience in an agile development process such as SCRUM or Kanban preferred.
  • Good communication skills verbal and written (English).
  • Ability to work to predefine priorities as part of a multi-regional team.
  • Should be willing to be flexible in terms of working shifts.
