About this role


Team Overview:


Aladdin Data (AD) is entrusted with maintaining all data integral to the investment decision process, for BlackRock the Investment Manager and its BlackRock Solutions (BRS) business in our proprietary Aladdin® end-to-end investment platform. AD closely partners with other teams such as Portfolio Management, Global Capital Markets, Relationship Management, Portfolio Compliance, Risk Analytics, Regulatory Reporting, and others, to ensure their business data needs are met accurately, timely, and efficiently.

As distributed team, AD has presence across 8 countries servicing for BlackRock and BRS clients.


Responsibilities:


Data Quality Control: Candidates need to have a passion towards Return specific Quality Control which will involve performing QC checks on derived return analytics.


  • Deliver Premium Client Experience: Gain a thorough understanding of the investment management process and how Aladdin clients utilize Green Package data. Leverage this knowledge to engage with clients, manage expectations around data quality, and align team support with their investment processes.


  • Project Management: Conduct a deep dive into return analytics to identify any gaps. Perform thematic analyses, collaborate across business verticals, and lead projects independently.


  • Teamwork: Collaborate with internal teams and engineering to perform quality checks specific to projects. Redesign the quality check process to identify significant events and provide crucial user input for script modifications that enhance analytics quality.


  • Technical Expertise: Utilize technical skills to ensure the accuracy of large analytical data sets, automate processes with scripting, and efficiently query information from extensive databases.


  • Subject Matter Expert: Develop comprehensive knowledge of return and attribution, understand Aladdin's return calculation methodology, and effectively address return-related inquiries.


  • Innovate: Drive platform and process innovations to meet evolving business needs, reduce risk, enhance quality, and adapt to changing market conditions.


Qualifications and experience:


  • Educational Background: MBA or equivalent from a reputable institution, with strong knowledge of analytical concepts. A combination of a business degree and CFA (Level 2) is preferred.


  • Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of identifying issues, designing solutions, and implementing changes effectively.


  • Index Knowledge: Familiarity with various index vendors and methodologies is a plus.


  • Financial Product Expertise: Solid understanding of financial products, including Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives, along with experience in returns analytics.


  • Market and Technology Awareness: Stay informed about global markets and macroeconomic factors to understand their impact on analytics, and leverage technology to address critical challenges.


  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in technical tools such as SQL and Unix.


  • Industry Experience: Over 6 years of experience in capital markets, investments, or financial technology, focusing on investment and performance analytics from modeling, data, and services perspectives.


  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, with strong communication and project management skills.


  • Team Mentorship: Ability to mentor and lead a team of 3-6 individuals effectively.
