Job Purpose


Professor Aditya Shrinivas, Economics area IIMB, is looking to hire research associates to support multiple research projects on drinking water, nutrition, health and the environment. The position is ideal forthose looking to gain research experience in applied microeconomics and are seriously interested in pursuing a PhD in economics, applied economics or public policy.


This Research Associate will be fully integrated into the vibrant research community at IIMB. They will interact with Economics PhD students, faculty, pre-docs fellows and academic associates. Mentorship and support wouldbe provided to the RA through the process of preparing for and applying to PhD programs.

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities


  • Development of data filesas well as using econometric methods to analyzedata.
  • Managing andanalyzing large administrative data using STATA,R or Python.
  • Conduct economics data analysis usingNSSO/NFHS/PLFS.
  • Deliver periodic reports and presentation of findings to the research group.
  • Conduct literature reviews.

Qualification and Personal Profile
  • Masters in Economics, PublicPolicy or relatedfields. Exceptional BS Economics (or related fields) candidates would also be considered.

Key Skill and Ability Requirements


  • Prior coursework in Econometrics, Statistics, Micro andDevelopment Economics.
  • Strong programming skillsand experience (STATAor R or Python).
  • Prior experience analyzing largedatasets (NSSO/NFHS/PLFS).
  • Ideally, experience as a research assistant or independent research experience related to Economics (e.g. thesis, independent working paper/term paper).
  • Self-motivated to succeed in research and ability to work independently.
