Role : Research Analyst


The position will contribute to developing insights into the strategic directions taken by global energy companies as they navigate the Energy Transition towards a low-carbon future. The role will focus on monitoring low-carbon M&A activity, joint ventures, partnerships, and corporate venture capital investments by oil & gas companies, utility firms, and other key investors in the energy space. The technologies and energy solutions to be tracked include renewable energy generation and transmission infrastructure, energy storage, carbon capture and storage, sustainable mobility, and more. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the evolving energy landscape and a willingness to specialize in specific clean technology segments or industry players, such as Power/Renewables.


Responsibilities:


  • Track and analyze low-carbon M&A deals and M&A market trends.
  • Enter data obtained from the research into databases and maintain databases for energy professionals.
  • Review data and trends to confirm and validate accuracy.
  • Working as a team with Commodity Insight (CI) professionals in other global locations, conduct research on market developments, industry trends. Periodically highlight key findings, trends and conflicting information/data for CI analysts’ review and attention.
  • Collaborate with energy professionals in other global locations, contribute to research and production of subscription and consulting work products.
  • Support the design and development of an Analytics dashboard to track low-carbon M&A activities and trends.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance dashboard functionality, ensuring seamless data integration, accuracy, and insightful visual representation of trends and key metrics.

Requirements:


  • MBA/master’s degree in energy/finance/general management.
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of the energy industry.
  • Reading and writing skills in international business English, good communication skills.
  • Strong Office 365 application skills including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with dashboard development tools (e.g., Power BI, or Tableau) for creating data visualizations and reports.
  • Ability to research complex issues and write coherent analyses.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented and aptitude for self-learning.
  • 2-4 years of prior experience as a business analyst or relevant related field.
