PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To accomplish the following under the supervision and guidance of the Lead Engineer:
o To set methods and criteria for execution of repair work in the shop in conjunction with the Lead
Engineer.
o Create Work Packages detailing Process specifications and Material specifications and other technical
details required for execution of the project.
o To ensure the technical integrity of all work performed in the Repair Shop and ensure value addition in
order to improve current methods/ processes.
o To prepare the Repair Proposals based on the contract reviews and feasibility study
o To compile Repair findings and Technical data in order to prepare Customer Reports.
To ensure that all quality requirements are met while respecting the job cost targets.
To assist the shop floor during the repair execution.
To support the Sales Engineers in quotation phase.
To work earnestly towards sustaining the QMS implemented processes.
To assist Global Service Repair Operations for facilitating the QMS efforts in documentation and continual improvement
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering.
Min. 7-8 years of total experience (at least 4 years working with Rotary equipment such as Steam Turbines and
Centrifugal Compressors)
Experience with repair methods such as Welding, Coating, Assembly and Dis-assembly of Blades/ Impellers, etc.
will be preferred.
Some understanding of the criticalities involved in Turbomachinery repair processes.
Understanding of Cost Optimization.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Good understanding of engineering practices.
Effective communication skills, Organizing skills
Working knowledge of PC and management software systems. Generally computer literate.
Quick learner on Continuous improvement methods & techniques adopted at Elliott Group
Familiarity with relevant ISO, ASME, and API codes and regulations.
Working knowledge of various RCA methodologies.
Good knowledge of English, Knowledge of Kannada and Hindi are added advantage.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
Issuing of Work Packages to shop floor.
Preparing repair proposals in conjunction with Lead Engineer.
Technical assistance to customer service and shop floor.
Tooling and fixture design and developing.
Working with Service Parts team and facilitating Internal RFQs and PRs for Repair Service Parts.
Following up on Service Parts timely delivery with HQs
Assisting and supervising Technicians on need basis.
Working with ERP Systems such as MSDN creating and updating Sale Quotes, Job Modules, Draft Invoices.
Ensuring that the Quality Assurance Plans are strictly followed without any deviations.
Systematic archiving of all Job related records in timely manner for better traceability and retrieval.
Dealing with Non-conformities in a systematic way established in the QMS.
Ensuring that the NCs are “Closed” prior to dispatch of the consignments.
Taking initiative in adequately addressing Customer Complaints through effectively contributing towards the
RCA’s
Facing Internal Audits
Aspire to be an Internal Auditor for QMS through exposure to implemented processes
A good understanding and demonstrable exposure to Environment, Health and Safety practices is essential.
Issuing Technical Job reports to customers at interim stages & job completions.
Initiate and implement new methods /improvements over past practices.
Recommend Safe work practices as per policy, across the plant.
Meet & exceed annual objectives.
Responsible for reporting on deviations in Repair process (though this is a common responsibility for all
employees)
Provide technical assistance to shop floor regarding the tooling and machining practices of a particular part.
Supports the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities of operations including, but
not limited to, establishing best practices, standard work instructions, safety culture and habits, and good
housekeeping techniques.
Apply Lean principles to consistently improve Product Quality , Productivity and Cost.
