Job Overview:

The Quality Manager for this site-based construction role will oversee the quality management systems on-site, ensuring that construction projects meet or exceed client and regulatory standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management procedures, conducting inspections, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to drive high standards in construction practices.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Quality Assurance and Control:


    • Develop, implement, and maintain the site's Quality Management Plan (QMP) in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
    • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with construction specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Review and approve the quality-related documentation, including test plans, inspection reports, and method statements.
    • Ensure the effective control of non-conforming materials, processes, and products, including corrective and preventive actions.
  2. Team Leadership and Coordination:


    • Lead and supervise the quality control team on-site, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance.
    • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to monitor quality performance and resolve quality issues promptly.
    • Foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all site personnel.
  3. Compliance and Reporting:


    • Monitor and enforce adherence to local and international construction standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental practices.
    • Prepare regular quality assurance reports for senior management, clients, and regulatory bodies.
    • Document and report on quality deviations, proposing corrective actions as necessary.
  4. Continuous Improvement:


    • Drive continuous improvement processes by identifying areas for enhancement in quality control practices and efficiency.
    • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
    • Lead the integration of new technologies and industry best practices to enhance the quality of construction processes.
  5. Client and Stakeholder Communication:


    • Maintain effective communication with clients, project managers, and external auditors regarding quality matters.
    • Coordinate with the project management team to align quality goals with project timelines and deliverables.
    • Address client concerns related to quality and ensure timely resolution of quality-related disputes.
  6. Risk Management:


    • Proactively identify potential quality risks and provide strategies to mitigate them.
    • Monitor quality-related risks throughout the project lifecycle and advise management on corrective measures as needed.
Qualification:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. A formal qualification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001) is highly preferred.


  • Experience:


    • Experience in a quality management role within the construction industry, ideally in site-based projects.
    • Proven track record of leading quality assurance and control programs on large construction projects.
    • Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements in the construction sector.
  • Skills:


    • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and techniques.
    • Excellent knowledge of quality control methods and tools.
    • Proficient in using quality management software and other construction management tools.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Certifications:


    • Certification in Quality Management (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or equivalent) is a plus.
    • Valid Construction Safety Certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
