Department
You will be part of Manufacturing Operation-India, Global Supply Chain, Cement who supports Capital and Service for Materials, Warehouse & Logistics. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and different challenges. This department works closely with both our internal and external customers to ensure FLSmidth equipment’s on time delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be located in the Arakkonam plant.
Role
The Quality Control Engineer role at Arakkonam ensures quality control processes and inspections are done according to best practices.
Your Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Monitor production processes and identify potential quality issues early in the manufacturing cycle.
- Conduct dimensional checks, mechanical tests, and other relevant evaluations to ensure product quality.
- Investigate product defects and process deviations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality-related issues effectively.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, including ISO, ASTM, and other relevant certifications.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and ensure products meet all compliance standards.
- Work with suppliers to address quality concerns and improve material reliability.
- Investigate non-conformities, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Key Accountabilities
- Reviews and approves processes for inspection of inbound material to ensure that quality standards are met.
- Inspect and approve incoming materials from suppliers, ensuring they meet specified requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of quality inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports.
- Prepare quality control reports and present findings to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities.
What you bring
- Certification in quality management systems (e.g., ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with quality software and ERP systems.
- Prior experience in cement equipment manufacturing is a significant plus.
- Strong knowledge of QAP, IP quality control processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools and testing equipment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing standards for heavy equipment (e.g., ASTM, DIN, ISO).
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and other quality tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Education Qualification
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
5+ years of experience in quality engineering in a heavy manufacturing environment.
