About the team:


WPG is a critical eCommerce payment processing platform which is part  Merchant Solutions-Worldpay.
Being part of the WPG team, you’ll help to support and deliver the core infrastructure dedicated for WPG Linux servers and will be open to support other towers and their services that power our payments platform. We’re responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining virtual servers deployed over VMware  and Physical database servers & Terabyte  of storage mounted at OS side.
We are looking for talented individuals to join the team who can quickly adapt the environment and have good Linux system admin skills. 


What you will be doing


WPG Linux Engineer is responsible for maintaining Linux systems and WPG infrastructure, this includes installing and configuring Linux servers, managing user accounts, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system security by vulnerabilities remediation. Keeping the server config up to date by managing Ansible/Puppet.


  • Actively provide Linux OS support to a highly critical payment gateway environment.
  • Analyses and resolves incidents, problems or known issues comes in production environment related to Linux servers and make sure infra queue is clean.
  • Perform change operations by raising change when needed to apply changes in production.
  • Ensure all vulnerabilities highlighted by security is remediated timely.
  • Ensure servers are patched correctly and up to date with all latest patches.
  • Assist application team for anything related to Linux OS like resolving any issues, making changes in permission/config etc.
  • Troubleshooting & investigation of 24 x 7 production system issues where stability, reputation management & security are critical to the business’ ongoing success.
  • Define, develop, and maintain documentation knowledgebase.
  • Proactively identify improvements and enhancements to working practices by using Automation tools like Ansible, Puppet etc and Implement automation of manual tasks wherever possible.
  • Work in a great coordination with Application, DB, Patching, Compute etc. to deliver the work.
  • Management of TBs of storage mounted at Physical DB servers and addition removal of LUNS using multipathing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for diagnosing and resolving system issues efficiently.
  • Provide on call support as per the scheduled Rota and jump on Bridge calls whenever needed to resolve any business-critical issue.
  • Ensure AD user authentication on Linux servers via quest sudo policy servers.

What you bring:


  • Should have experience in Linux system administration.
  • Able to configure and maintain Linux operating systems and related software.
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems - RedHat (RHEL) and/or Oracle (OEL) Linux Operating Systems, version 6, 7 & 8. (Managing users, filesystem, processes, managing storage with LVM etc.)
  • Experience configuring and maintaining storage connecting to the Linux servers such as SAN/NFS
  • Proficient in Linux OS configuration and troubleshooting/problem-solving and should have ability to quickly and efficiently deal with Linux operating system issues and escalate to senior engineers/management when required.
  • Experience of raising OS vendor SR support tickets with either RedHat and/or Oracle along with resolving issues following vendor recommendations
  • Ability to manage a Linux server through VMware virtual environments and physical servers from console (iLO/IDrec etc.)
  • Good understanding of protocols such as SSH, SCP, SFTP, FTP, SMTP & DNS where the Linux operating system is concerned. Strong understanding of networking concepts including setting up IP addresses, routing tables etc. and should be able to troubleshoot networking related issues.
  • Experience of upgrading and patching of Linux operating systems and have good proficiency in the use of package management tools YUM/DNF, configuration of repository and troubleshooting of patching specific issues.
  • Experience of scripting using BASH and should have thorough understanding of use of Ansible by writing playbooks.
  • Have Experience of monitoring tools (such as Nagios, Splunk or Zabbix)
  • Experience in understanding of Linux vendor OS life cycles for either RHEL or OEL.
  • Experience of looking up security vulnerability CVE’s on a vendors support site and then being able to resolve the CVE through patching or config change and Management of OS related Security and Vulnerability management.
  • Effective Communication skill and able to support on call.
  • Experience with ITIL processes like Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management.
  • Be a client champion, Win as One Team, Be the change.

Extra Desirable Skills (but not an essential must have) **


  • Knowledge of ITSM tool ServiceNow (or similar such as Remedy) would be of a great advantage
  • Experience of using SharePoint/Jira.
  • Ability/experience of using HP's OneView tool
  • Basic understanding of services EXIM, BIND and Squid
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) would of great value
  • Knowledge of Patching tools/services such as BigFix Agent, Satellite, Pulp or other
  • Understanding of protocols such as HTTP and LDAP
  • Experience of working with RHEL/OEL 9
  • Very Basic understanding of ITIL

Certification


Must have RHCE (RedHat Certified Engineer) Certified in version 7/8/9  -  Certification number need to verify
Good to have ITIL Foundation
Good to have VMware certification
Good to have (OEL) Oracle Linux System Admin certification   in version 7/8/9
