Product Support / Sales - Job Description


POSITION TITLE:                                               Product Support / Sales


DEPARTMENT:                                                 Sales


ACCOUNTABLE TO:                                          This role will be reporting to the Sales Manager. As a company that designs, manufactures, and distributes heat exchangers and radiators for heavy industrial equipment.               


LIAISE WITH:                                                     Product Support / Sales staff, Customer Service, Department Managers & Supervisors, Finance Department, L&M Inc. Department Heads, Customers & Clients, and Office personnel


ROLE SUMMARY:                                             Direct selling, customer liaison, product support and problem solving.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Sales Development – Identify and target potential customers in the commercial and industrial sectors, both nationally and internationally. Direct selling and field representation to meet the needs of your designated sales region.
  • Technical Support – Provide in-depth knowledge and technical guidance to customers helping them select the right heating solutions based on their requirements.
  • Product Presentations – Conduct product and or brand presentations to prospective customers, explaining the benefits of using the Mesabi brand.
  • Client Relationships – Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers providing excellent after-sales support to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Quote Preparations – Prepare detailed quotes, technical proposals and cost estimates based on customer specifications.
  • Market Research – Monitor market trends and competitor activities, providing feedback to the management team.
  • Collaboration – Work closely with the customer service, logistics and the engineering team to ensure orders are fulfilled on time. Collate and share technical information with the engineering design team.
  • Sales Reporting – Track sales activities, forecasts and pipeline status, reporting to management on progress and opportunities. Prepare reports as required by the Sales Manager.
  • Budgeting – Assist in sales budget preparation for assigned sales regions.

Other Responsibilities:                                  


  • You will be assigned a Sales regions by the Sales Manager.
  • To organize your own travel. This includes booking air fares, accommodation and car hire where necessary.
  • Email or phone site visit requests prior to heading to that sales area. Phone or email to confirm appointments. Send copy of call plan to Sales Manager.
  • On completion of sales visit, complete call report and at end of day / week copy into Epicor. Email copies of all call reports to Sales Manager & General Manager.
  • Update expenses at the end of each day. Enter photo of Tax Invoice into the expense app. If tax Invoice is multiple pages, email copies to Admin3@mesabi.com.au.
  • Obtain equipment lists, equipment maintenance scheduling and onsite contacts, name, phone numbers, email, and position details.  
  • Gather all relevant technical information including part numbers from whatever source necessary, for engineering design.
  • Contact Customer Service with all relevant information when requesting a quotation.
  • Follow up with Customer Service as necessary, to keep them informed of any quote changes, and to receive any details, which may help, close the sale
  • Follow up all enquiries and quotes.
  • Update quote status in Epicor, ensuring reasons for lost sales are noted.
  • Submit weekly itinerary to Sales Manager.
    When away from home base, include full accommodation, details with address & contact numbers.
  • Submit monthly report, listing:
    • Accomplishments for last month.
    • Objectives for this month
    • Key issues additional information, observations
    • Send copy to Hibbing, copy the Sales Manager in.
  • At the end of each month, copy Trip folders to OneDrive folder for back up.
  • Beginning each quarter, submit an Itinerary outlining proposed activity for the quarter.
  • Keep Encore list current in Epicor for mail-out.
  • Maintain the company vehicle, Laptop, Mobile Phone, Mesabi Sample’s, tools, and uniforms in clean and good condition.
  • Assist as required in sales budget preparation for assigned sales areas.
  • Prepare reports for annual and half-yearly sales meetings as directed. Monitor sales areas and generate report for managers meeting.
  • Direct selling and field representation to meet the needs of your designated sales area.
  • Organize your travel for one to two-week periods which include booking air fares, accommodation and hire car where necessary.
  • Liaise with Sales and Customer service personnel as required.

  • Developing of detailed business development and marketing plans and strategies which provide a blueprint for future growth for both short and long term.

  • Develop and maintain effective risk management strategies in our submissions.
  • Ensuring the assets of the organisation are adequately safeguarded and maintained.
  • Identification of relevant training objectives.
  • Manager peer & customer feedback, through the Customer Feed Back form.
  • Positive and collaborative contributions during team meetings.

COMPETENCIES:


License & Certificate:


  • Australian “C” Class Drivers’ License (essential).
  • Current National Police Clearance (essential).
  • Valid Passport to travel internationally (essential).

Experience/Qualifications:


  • 5-10 years previous Mining/Radiator/Manufacturing / Service Industry experience in technical sales (desirable).
  • Project Delivery (essential).
  • Previous Business to Business support experience (essential).
  • Business Management (essential).
  • Marketing experience with a strong drive for achieving sales targets (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
