Location : BorgWarner Tech Center , Bangalore
Qualification : BE/ME/MS/PhD in Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Mechatronics
Experience: At-least 18+ years of relevant work experience in Automotive Electronics Hardware (Electrical and Electronics) development. At-least 10 years electronics engineering design experience and a minimum of 3 years specific to electronics hardware design
Primary functions
Will be responsible for product development like controllers, inverters, and various other BW products . Lead engineers in Electronics hardware development. Will be expected to oversee the technical execution of Electrical and Electronics Competency teams and deliver to the project timeline and objectives. Will ensure that BorgWarner’s electronics Hardware products (such as Inverters, Battery Management Controllers, Driveline & Transmission controllers, Gasoline/Diesel Electronics Controllers etc ) are properly specified, designed and tested to meet customer performance requirements under product quality, cost, and clinical outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Technical oversight of power electronics product design - Electrical/Electronic hardware design . Work with Mechanical, Electrical engineers and electronics Hardware architecture engineers.
- Meet customers / OEM’s and understand the product specifications
- Plan, direct, and coordinate efforts of the electronics Hardware engineers to meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Manage and prioritize workload of the team and maintain visibility of workload to engineering organization.
- Development of team including talent management system cycle processes.
- Functional leadership of the team, including recruitment, talent development, coaching, mentoring (technical and soft skills)
- Help deliver design work products and launch final product
- Create standard work processes, and design templates & guidelines for power electronics / electronics products
- Build the lab facilities as required by the product validation.
- Create and maintain power electronics product and technology roadmaps.
- Accountable for all Engineering deliverables to Program Management.
- Provide a first line of escalation for competency and resource team issues.
- Collaborates and engages with multiple other global sites on understanding the requirements and deploying the necessary execution locally
- Drive knowledge of, and adherence to, the company’s processes and procedures.
- Drive best practices and continuous improvement in process and tools.
- Technically lead multi-physics based simulations including electrical and Electronics simulations
- Define, develop and maintain technical guidance documentation for development roles within the group.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Strong expertise in Electrical & Electronics design and Analysis for Automotive Electronics.
- Good know-how of Electrical and Electronics Design process including meeting all Design Standards and providing all process deliverables in order to develop products that meet customer requirements.
- Expertise in HSI documentation, DFMEA / FMEDA
- Has prior experience in Schematic creation, Bill of Material accounting, Product Mechanization, HW block diagrams and HW interface definitions.
- Has prior experience in Electrical Product verification, HW functional test,
and HW Bench definition.
- Good knowledge of micro-controller mechanization on Aurix micro-controllers (Preferred)
- Good understanding of high voltage power semiconductor device technology such as Silicon IGBT, SiC MOSFETs and Power modules for motor drive and converter applications.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion, etc
- Has a broad knowledge of power electronics circuit design for applications such as DCDC Converters, Traction Inverters, OnBoard Charger, Power Modules
- Knowledge of key concepts of power electronics operation for hybrid and/or electric vehicles
- Familiarity with Functional Safety and Cyber Security concepts
- Effectively articulate electrical implications while supporting mechanical packaging and system design
- Good Experience in domains of structural, thermo-mechanical, heat transfer, electrical Analysis
- Good experience in product development process & procedures, electronics packaging techniques, component manufacturing technologies and suitable materials.
- Expertise in design validation & testing procedures and Root cause analysis for product failure using FEA.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Expertise in Design optimization techniques using various methodologies.
- Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others
- Ability to work cross-functionally and create teamwork across organizations and with senior leaders
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes
- Demonstrated success at leading large teams by creating a sense of purpose, vision and mission, measured by low attrition, high engagement and positive team culture.
