What is the Product Architect - Digital & AI/ML responsible for?
  • The Product Architect - Digital & AI/ML in the Franklin Templeton AI & Digital Transformation group focuses on designing and evolving the architecture of innovative digital investment products, with a focus on the Goals Optimization Engine (GOE). The engineer will integrate advanced optimization techniques, stochastic models, and AI/ML algorithms (e.g., reinforcement learning, neural networks) into a scalable, modular framework for B2B2C wealthtech solutions. Emphasizing hands-on Python programming, the role involves developing APIs and robust SaaS-ready product architecture, supporting deployments across SaaS, on-premises, and offline environments. Additionally, the engineer will explore Generative AI and emerging AI/ML technologies to enhance the product's capabilities and broader business impact#MID_SENIOR_LEVEL


What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Product Architect - Digital & AI/ML?

Product Architecture:


  • Design and develop scalable, modular and efficient architecture for product variants that aligns with business needs and supports diverse deployment modes


  • Design solutions that can seamlessly integrate advanced optimization techniques, AI/ML models, and stochastic frameworks into the product architecture.


  • Ensure architectural consistency across product components and align with enterprise standards.


Product Development:


  • Ability to lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle of SaaS products, from ideation to launch along with expertise in hands-on programming using Python


  • Ability to lead multiple project modules and operate seamlessly with cross functional teams to gather business requirements and design solutions.


  • Ability to design, develop, test and document the product features including design specifications, user guides and manuals.


  • Oversee quality assurance processes that should incorporate unit, integration, regression, and performance tests to ensure reliability, precision, and scalability in both the models and the overall system.


  • Familiarity with working on cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS and Data platforms such as Databricks and SnowFlake


Quantitative Finance / AI & ML:


  • Understanding of Dynamic Programming methodology and Reinforcement learning techniques including Deep learning, Q learning and neural networks are a definite plus.


  • Strong understanding of quantitative finance concepts and advanced optimization techniques.


  • Help and collaborate with the research team with ideas, algorithmic inputs, back-testing, proof of concepts and pseudo code where necessary


  • Good understanding to visualization tools to help with advanced analytics


Release Management:


  • Work closely with digital product teams, product managers, and quantitative researchers to gather business requirements and design solutions


  • Liaise with infrastructure, DevOps, and UI/UX teams to ensure seamless integration of components.


What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

Experience:


  • 5-8 years of experience in product development or core programming roles, particularly with product development in the financial or fintech sector.


  • Proven ability to manage product lifecycles successfully and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.


Education:


  • Bachelor’s and master's degree in engineering/technology/mathematics/Statistics/related disciplines from Tier 1 universities/institutes in India or abroad.


  • Relevant industry certifications such as CFA, CQF will be looked at favorably


Financial Acumen:


  • Strong foundational understanding of financial principles and terminology.


  • Ability to engage in discussions involving quantitative finance concepts and adapt to complex scenarios as needed.


Analytical Skills:


  • A problem-solver with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.


Accountability:


  • Self-motivated and driven with a heightened sense of ownership and accountability.


  • Exceptional decision-making skills: Ability to prioritize across needs given limited resources


Communication:


  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate product strategies, features, and rationale to diverse stakeholders.


Teamwork:


  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly within Agile development teams.


  • Excellent Team player and demonstrate the ability to work in ambiguity and thrive in chaos.


Problem - Solving:


  • Demonstrated ability to identify challenges and deliver innovative, data-driven solutions.


Cultural Sensitivity:


  • An appreciation of cultural nuances, essential for a role with diverse geographical focus.
