Role description
As the Software Engineering Lead, you will cultivate, mentor, and propel an innovative and dynamic team tasked with developing and maintaining our future estate of cutting-edge digital applications across the group. Our goal is to revolutionize how infrastructure owners and operators interact with infrastructure at both city and national scales.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, cross-functional group managers, and global engineering leads to ensure consistency and excellence in application development and governance.
- Mentor and foster the growth of a forward-thinking team dedicated to developing next-generation digital applications.
- Oversee the planning, design, development, execution, and maintenance of software applications that seamlessly scale across our organization and client base.
- Operate at all levels, providing strategic insights while delving into the intricate details of application development as required.
- A commitment to high quality applications and be able to pay attention to detail.
- Lead the estimation process, evaluate risks, and mentor team members to enhance their skills and adherence to companywide software development best practices.
Qualifications:
- Degree in computer science or software engineering, with at least 10+ years of relevant work experience, including experience in technical leadership and people management.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative, cross-functional team across multiple countries (United Kingdom, New Zealand, and United States).
- Strong communication, technical, and managerial skills.
- Familiarity with modern cloud-first application patterns (MS Azure).
- Proficiency in one of the following languages Python, JavaScript (ES2016), C#, PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with containerized workloads and Kubernetes environment.
- Familiarity in MS PowerPlatform would be beneficial
- Understanding of the importance of communication, simplicity, and reliability in decision-making processes.
