NXP R&D IT solutions team is responsible for supporting global engineering and business teams to deliver breakthrough silicon and software solutions. We are looking to advance the state of IT solutions for EDA workflows that can provide the most efficient, scalable, and reliable infrastructure. You will research and identify solutions to software and hardware optimization of our EDA infrastructure, methodology and workflows.  As part of this role, you will also be developing applications that can augment existing toolset with modern automation, including ML/AI and Generative AI solutions.


Job Description


  • Design and develop innovative AI/ML based analytics solutions for EDA infrastructure. This will involve co-optimization of hardware, cloud, infrastructure, CAD flows and Commercial/internal EDA tools to deliver efficiencies in IT.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive EDA tool performance improvement strategy that aligns with R&D IT goals and business objectives, including development of internal benchmarking and regression frameworks.
  • Identify, evaluate, explore emerging / disruptive AI / Distributed processing solutions to improve utilization of infrastructure resources, and deliver performance gains.
  • Hands-on design / development / deployment of in-house EDA / CAD solutions in partnership with CAD and Design teams to improve robustness and resilience of tools over multiple years of compute transformation.
  • Identify and build global support for delivered tools, software, and analytics.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to IT infrastructure peers, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence.
    • Guide team members in the design, implementation, and optimization of AI, distributed processing, and EDA workflow solutions (both in the cloud as on-premises datacenters).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other IT leaders, stakeholders, and business units to integrate the team’s strategies with broader technology and business initiatives.
    • Act as a key liaison between IT, CAD and Design teams, to help optimize IT’s solutions to cater to transformative EDA tools and vice-versa.
  •  Operational Excellence:
    • Deliver effective global support for tools that are developed, optimized, or supported by this team.
    • Implement best-in-class software test/release or CI/CD environments using modern frameworks across on-premises and cloud deployments of your software.

Candidate requirements:


  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in computer science, electronics, information technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 12 (twelve) years of demonstrable hands-on experience working as software solutions developer/architect with experience in EDA software optimization
  • Extensive hands-on experience in software development (CI/CD), including SCM (one or more of git/svn/bitbucket/perforce), release management, testing and documentation.
  • Proven experience designing AI/ML solutions for scientific computing, specific to EDA/Silicon design.
  • Deep experience in Engineering DRM (eg. LSF, Univa, Slurm, RTDA) based workflow implementation or optimization.
  • Experience with data engineering and data security – including databases, data lakes/data lakehouses.
  • Have the technical skill to review, verify and validate the software code developed in the project.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on proactive optimization.
