Position Overview


We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced backend developer with expertise in server-side software development and AWS to join our Fusion 360 Data team as a Principal Engineer. This is a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and future of our Data Management services, including Fusion Team, for Autodesk Fusion 360. Autodesk Fusion 360 is a next-generation CAD application with an ecosystem of client and server components, a next-generation web client, SDK, and a variety of cloud services that interact with world-leading CAD products such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit.

As a Principal Engineer, you will have a significant impact on the direction and success of our projects, and your expertise will drive our technology forward.


Responsibilities


  • Lead and mentor a Scrum team that maintains multiple microservices foundational to the Data for Fusion 360


  • Troubleshoot and resolve complicated technical issues, providing guidance and solutions to the team


  • Architect, design, and implement high-quality, clean, and efficient code following best practices and development guidelines


  • Proactively and continuously evaluate and address issues related to performance, stability, scalability, and extensibility of the systems


  • Lead the development and maintenance of test automations, ensuring robustness and reliability


  • Collaborate with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and team members to understand and analyse requirements, and develop/maintain microservices


  • Research, prototype, and implement new ideas, technologies, and patterns to solve complex technical challenges


  • Deliver results that meet product user stories with a high level of quality and customer satisfaction


  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience


  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with commercial cloud services and applications


  • Proven experience in leading critical projects and teams in a fast-paced environment


  • Strong understanding of Java programming language, object-oriented design principles, Spring, and Jersey


  • Extensive experience in developing and maintaining large-scale microservices with a strong understanding of caching (preferably Redis), distributed tracing, eventing (preferably Kinesis), and scaling techniques


  • Expert in developing RESTful web services using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Jersey


  • Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies, e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB


  • Hands-on experience with unit and automation testing tools such as JUnit, Cucumber, JMeter, etc


  • Deep knowledge of UML, software design patterns, distributed systems, resiliency, and security


  • Strong troubleshooting skills through stack trace analysis, thread and memory profiling, and remote debugging


  • Experience with build and CI/CD tools like Ant, Gradle, Docker, Jenkins


  • Experience with Git or equivalent version control system


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Willingness to work with colleagues across different time zones


  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) stack - ECS, Lambda, Batch, Step Function, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, SQS, etc


  • Familiarity with Python and Groovy


  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, React.js, Redux


  • Experience with Agile development practices


  • Experience with search technologies like Lucene and Elasticsearch


  • Experience working with Jira and Wiki
