Business Information: Our Indian Operations Centre (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2600+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision, and commissioning. Over the last decade, INOPC has evolved to become the largest engineering hub serving more than 40 countries across different energy sectors. The team caters to the four business units—Transformers, Grid Integration, Grid Automation, High Voltage and has successfully executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries. Mission Statement: We seek an Engineering Design authority for traction power substations (Including TSS & RSS and in particular for DC Rail) with medium to high complexity. This function will include complete assignments on medium to large projects requiring engineering that is cost-effective and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from Operating Unit Engineering teams, it is required to prepare plant SLD, schematics, power supply and auxiliary schemes, substation and electrical plant layouts. Furthermore, this function includes work on standard technical specifications for major equipment, providing input to R&D activities for plant base solutions considering different switchgear technologies such as AIS and GIS and various other electrical equipment. Cost awareness and carrying out comparisons between different solutions, bills of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, engineering hours estimation, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation is also required. The job will include both individual work as well as coordination of engineering resources and interaction with other engineering leads and tendering teams. Effective interaction with project managers, SCM, secondary and civil / steel designers will also be required. Your responsibilities: You will be responsible for plant design authority for all electrical and mechanical engineering activities in assigned projects i.e. both Design of HV Traction substations, including production of required drawings, documentation, and calculations, which include single line diagrams, layout plans, cable and equipment sizing, installation details, bills of material, cable schedules, and design reports of Base Solution Engineering & commercial Project Opportunities. You will be lead, supervise and coordinate engineering project teams and towards other departments related to scope, schedule & progress, approvals, budget, targets, resource load & cost-to-complete. Ensure Engineering processes and base solutions are applied. Conduct engineering project reviews and report progress and cost-to-complete engineering- and project manager. Establish contacts with suppliers for technical support to improve material quality and/or to optimize on costs. Having primary / secondary substation/plant design expertise and contribute to delivery of transmission, distribution and/or power quality projects Prepare base designs and focus on continuous improvements both technically and functionally Track and handle technical issues and follow up. Handle clarification where more than one domain/function/party is concerned plus topics that cannot be allocated to an engineering domain. Initiate mitigation of possible responsibility gaps in the project team. Collect and consolidate project risks and opportunities from engineering team, technical, but as well related to engineering work, information/data availability and assumptions taken. Define, coordinate & take proactive actions to mitigate risks. Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business. Your Background: A Bachelor Degree (B.E./M.E) in electrical engineering. You should have minimum 5-12 years of work experience in Design of DC Traction substations, including production of required drawings, documentation, calculations and Design reports. Good knowledge of international standards applied in traction power installations and railway segment. You should have g ood knowledge on design philosophy of Earthing & Bonding, stray current calculations & depot interface. Stray current Monitoring System and Mitigation measures Proficient knowledge of T&D equipment, such as AC / DC switchgear circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, cables. Good understanding of secondary design aspects of substations, such as CT VT Sizing, Cable sizing, Protection & Control schemes, LVAC / LVDC supplies, Interlocking, Telecommunication. Understanding of interfaces to HV and MV substations, overhead line and cable systems, modular switchgear design and prefabrication. HV & MV substation engineering understanding and experience preferred Knowledge of HV grid power systems. Good understanding of civil and structural design elements of substations, such transformer bunds, cable troughs, ducts, support structures, substation access roads, etc. Know-how on design calculations related to primary engineering Grounding and lightning system design, drawings and Bill of Materials Technical data sheets and specification verification of primary equipment. Proficiency in required CAD design tools (Autodesk Revit, 3D competence / BIM preferred). Excellent English speaker, good communication skills. Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization. Team player, ready to play the role in an international environment. High level of ownership and able to lead, guide and plan work individually and for the team.
