The Enterprise Architecture team has the important role to serve the needs of Fidelity by enabling the Business, Technology and Data strategies to flourish in order to realise the targeted business opportunities and value. Enterprise Architecture operates across portfolio delivery and enterprise domains, ensuring there is the right balance between what is sensible for the enterprise and the programme specific needs.


About your role
Global Platform Solutions (GPS) is one of the two main business pillars within Fidelity, incorporating our Personal Investing, Advised, Workplace Investing, Brokerage and Stock Plan Services businesses. GPS is going through a phase of rapid and substantial transformation of its business model as well as the Technology estate


As a Portfolio Architect for GPS, you will provide leadership and Enterprise Architecture services to Business and Technology stakeholders in order to direct the investment and transformation, from an architecture perspective, ensuring GPS initiatives are delivered in line with the Business, Technology and Data strategies. This includes working with senior business stakeholders to understand and develop their longer term vision, aligning roadmaps to this, developing technology roadmaps that align to both the business vision as well as technology objectives, and providing guidance on M&A activity.


In this role you will:


Architect


  • Identify the current state of technology use in the organisation, what technologies are being used and how they are deployed along with the business value the technology is providing.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state), and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organisation's targeted customer outcomes.
  • Develop architectures that are aligned to business goals, drivers, and strategies; drawing on knowledge of current and possible future business trends, policies and practices and business competition landscape. 
  • Work as part of the team in proposing and gaining agreement for target application architecture for GPS that includes the articulation of a clear transformation roadmap.
  • Ensure that technology solutions to business problems are both pragmatic and supportive of the global strategic architecture direction.
  • Understand, advocate and augment the principles underpinning information technology strategies.

Strategize


  • Maintain a forward-looking perspective on emerging technology developments and their relevance to Business and Technology Strategies.
  • Monitor technology developments to ensure that the organisation is effectively positioned to respond to and leverage opportunities that enhance competitive position through the effective application of technology to the business.
  • Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from future to current state

Lead & Communicate


  • Be an advisor to the business and technology leads on GPS architecture and strategy; managing these relationships to achieve consensus and agreement to the vision and roadmap.
  • Act as a Technology senior leader across functions.
  • Proactively communicate decisions, roadmaps and insight to technology and business colleagues.
  • Proactively input into and provide architectural leadership in governance forums.

Innovate


  • Participate in the development of new concepts to support business strategy and provide recommendations to leverage technology for competitive advantage, internal efficiency and improved service.
  • Participate in managing vendor relationships on new and existing products, evaluating usefulness and cost of products and making appropriate recommendations.

Collaborate


  • Architecture’s success will depend on close collaboration with many other teams in Fidelity, including Engineering, Data, Delivery, Change, Security and Business teams

Deliver


  • Design and deliver the transformation of the GPS technology estate, together with the appropriate Business and Technology teams. 
  • Translate high level business architecture into technology architectures that align to global strategies, simplify the existing architecture, deliver cost saving opportunities and, where appropriate, reusable services.

About you


  • You have a good understanding of financial markets, products and organisations, with extensive experience in the retail investing industry or other, highly regulated sector
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills; you are adaptable and resourceful with a willingness to learn
  • You have the ability to convey complex, abstract technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • You are skilled in the architecture, design and implementation of complex solutions and business process change.
  • You have designed & delivered large transformation programmes from legacy to new technologies.
  • You have effective leadership skills including negotiation, conflict resolution, influencing, bridge-building and political astuteness
  • You are proactive and self-organising with a “can-do” approach
