A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned


As a Senior Packaging Engineer at MEIC, you will design, develop, and test a wide variety of packaging used for the protection, display, and handling of products. You will determine packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required. This includes considering resistance to external variables such as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering. Additionally, you will design package exteriors considering product identification, sales appeal, aesthetic quality, printing, and production techniques. Responsibilities may include documentation management and/or coordination of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and supporting prototype line development ,design & manufacturing transfer activities in manufacturing facilities/plants.


  • Work independently under limited supervision to design and develop packaging solutions for medical devices including sterile & non-sterile packaging.
  • Collaborate with OEM suppliers, coordinate for reviews & approvals with cross-functional departments for design and manufacturing transfer activities.
  • Execute design & material qualification, verification, validation, and implementation of package solutions in accordance with Industrial standards (ASTM,ISTA,IEC,UL) and quality system requirements (FDA and EU).
  • Execute engineering change management & documentation including EC routings and collations of input requirements, design specs, verification & testing protocols, validation plans along with technical reporting.
  • Knowledge of artwork and labelling creation and revisions for product packaging.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software like Creo and Solidworks, and artwork software such as Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw.
  • Skillful in using Project Management techniques and tools to execute multiple projects and ensure delivery excellence for Quality, cost and time.

Required Knowledge and Experience


  • Bachelors degree required Minimum of 4 to 8 years of relevant experience, or Packaging Master degree  with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Packaging Material Qualification and Testing
  • Production methods with respect to Packaging industries.
  • Hands on expertise in executing DFMEA,PFMEA,PPAP,DFM&A activies.
  • PLM (Windhchill, Agile)
  • GD&T Knowledge & Certification
  • Ability to prepare written policies, procedures, proposal, and reports.
  • Effective communication skills with superiors (department managers, senior management, steering committee members, cross functional vice presidents), peers, and subordinates.
  • Ability to plan and document projects effectively. Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects by way of good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Medical Device Standards (FAD,EU MDR,ASTM,ISO,IEC)
  • Knowledge of Medical Device Product/Site Transfers
