Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete Packaging Design and Packaging Deployment for Innovation/Growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.


How you will contribute


With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct activities to generate appropriate packaging information, using sampling and supplier management, and pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In this role, you will plan and conduct process development activities (e.g. packaging design and specifications, packaging scale up, commissioning etc.) and help with planning and the effective use of resources, including the use of external agencies. You will also create technical reports, which will require your skills in analysis and interpretation of results that will lead to conclusions and recommendations; create and maintain accurate packaging specifications; and create intellectual property to drive our competitive advantage.

This position reports to the Sr. Packaging Technologist II, R&D Packaging, India Biscuits. 


The Biscuits category is mostly focused on India with the key Global brand of Oreo, Chocobakes, Lotus Biscoff, Bournvita Biscuits, etc.


  • This position will be responsible for delivering against the packaging innovation, productivity and quality agenda of business & fully accountable for strategically and operationally growing our Market share profitably with focus on pack formats at the right Price pack architecture (PPA) for traditional & modern trade offerings 
  • This position requires a detailed understanding of overall packaging development process and depth knowledge of packaging enabling technologies & Materials to make a significant contribution to project objective and outcomes. Furthermore, business sense is necessary for this position, consumer insight knowledge is also welcome.
  • The individual must possess experience in the packaging development process from concept initialization through commercialization in a fastpaced environment. The individual must possess strong technical skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time. 
  • Whilst ca. 30% travel has been estimated, it is expected that this role must drive hard to utilize alternative methods/ technologies for communication/ collaboration given increasingly reduced travel budgets.

  • Practical experience & Knowledge with a range of packaging materials (Flexible
  • Paper & paper Boards & Corrugates, Rigid plastics), its processes and manufacturing methods & Technologies.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing & Research Development team environment.
  • Packaging Graphics: apply knowledge around the printing process to determine how it affects packaging aesthetics & its performance.Effectively apply to business issues and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Previous experiences in 2-3 different locations/countries will be an added advantage

Education / Certifications:


2-4 yearswork experience in Research & Development - Packaging Development function from any FMCG industry Or Packaging materials making and convertor/Printing industry in R&D Design team is preferable


Job specific requirements:


1. Category & Customer Growth


The position is accountable for the delivery of significant Innovation programmes for the Category ensuring all formats, specifications and their performance are adding value to the top and bottom line at minimum cost and complexity. This will require a fundamentally holistic approach across the business and this role will need to join up key partner functions across category.


2. Packaging Development process for Innovations /productivity 


Lead and/or support on all new product (Growth) & value optimization plant trials activity / transit test validations for packaging materials, working with internal cross-functional teams (Marketing, Procurement, Business Development, Production, Supply Chain and Quality). Properly plan up, coordinate and report each trial output, provide appropriate level of technical support and troubleshooting to execute trial objectives and ensure proper documentation of each activity thru detail technical reports & signoff across stake holders.


3. Simplification & Productivity ideation & Execution 


The position is responsible to support the drive for packaging simplification in materials, formats and manufacturing processes. This requires working in close collaboration with the Category Teams, Brand Value & Margin Enhancement as well as Supply Chain (Engineering/ Manufacturing/ Procurement/ Logistics) and where necessary the Global Packaging team & Category Teams.


4. Organisational Development


The position will ensure individuals receive technical and professional development through having actionable personal development plans and career roadmaps.


The position ensures that the organisation has the appropriate resources, skills and experience to carry out their project role and apply best practice across the category.


5. Artwork approvals & Specification Management & Creations 


Design & develop packaging material specifications & artwork approvals for NPD, Brand Promotions & Cost reduction projects thru use of Mondelez R&DQ specific System /Process (Meridian, SAP, PIF, and DSA).


6. Troubleshooting on Packaging related Quality Issues 


Troubleshoot production & quality issues that arise from package development, line trials and commercialization with minimal supervision in collaboration with operations & quality teams
