About the teamThe Consumption domain is the downstream system/component for which upstream Domains produce the data. The Consumption domain consolidates all the outputs from different domains and export the final data to Elsevier products, such as Scopus/D2M etc, and therefore has a true central function in coordination and communication around data streams. The core capabilities of the Consumption Domain include building collections for Elsevier products according to the policies of the products, managing consistency across Domain outputs, and managing the data format standards. This means consumption has the whole authority/knowledge of what it wants to export to different applications, and in that sense is the front door of the Research Data Platform. The Consumption Domain is run by a multi-disciplinary leadership team, consisting of a Product Domain Lead, Operations Domain Lead and Tech Domain lead, and Architect. The Consumption Domain is growing and the leadership group is being built. About the roleThe Operations Domain Lead for the Consumption Domain has the opportunity to shape the way the delivery of Data through the Consumption Domain is operationalized: instituting ways of working, bringing structure to the deliveries and handling the interaction around data and deliveries outside of the Domain. The work includes but is not limited to the way collections are configured, and how this configuration is managed; interaction with the Tech teams, and handle deliveries themselves - preferably by defining the requirements while the Tech teams automate; manage the communication around incidents, data format standards and changes and leveraging VoC data to improve data products and processes. In addition, you are expected to implement and report on metrics that measure the quality of the Domain's output data products, both for point in time and across time.QUALIFICATIONS:• 10+ years of technology operations experience• 2+ years of management experience• BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferredTECHNICAL SKILLS:• Advanced process management skills.• Understands the concepts of Data Product governance and has proven experience with achieving business objectives in collaboration with Product Management and customer advocates• Strong organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments• Advanced communication (verbal and written) skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc.• Experience with Agile development practices• Familiar with database and storage solutions such as AWS, S3, RDS• Experience working with data formats based on JSON, XML and JSON-LD standards and parquet files• Able to run PostGreSQL, Springboot and Java-based custom applications to deliver data• Experience with Databrick and Spark is preferred ACCOUNTABILITIES:- Provide leadership on the development of the operational aspects of the Consumption domain: part of a core team including the Product, Tech, Architecture leads that define the vision for the Domain, both short and long-term, to drive the RDP strategy forward- Design and manage the configuration & delivery of collections to internal customers, including governance, develop SLAs, define Data quality framework. Note: content of a collection is determined by Product / CSAB- Ensure delivery of standardized and customized collections within SLA: Scopus / CSAB, SciVal, EKB (D2M), SCUDD, etc, until they can be automated- Develop and publish the metrics for the data Consumption is responsible for: Consistently build and present metrics - Triage of Consumption Domain customer feedback- Resolve Data Quality issues related to Consumption Domain workflowsIncident Management for data & systems in scope- Build out methodology for prioritization/manual override of tasks in queue without breaking quality (to accomodate e.g. customer priorities)- Track systems and their performance, e.g. XOCS / xFAB- Develop a base plan and incident driven function- Closure & feedback mechanism around documents going missing at internal systemsWork in a way that works for you We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization.
