Position: Ocean Freight Director - India
Job Purpose
Responsible for leading and growing of Regional Ocean freight Product in line with the Ocean freight strategy regarding growth. This position will work closely with clients, carriers, and internal teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective ocean freight services, while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Drive Growth in export TEUs and LCL
Develop and implement the overall strategy for the ocean freight division
Deliver pricing & solution to local commercial organization and network in wining Teus for both export and import
Drive tender management for all local and global RFQ is terms of pricing and solution
Establish and maintain strong relationships with ocean carriers, negotiate contracts, and ensure optimal service level
Ensure all operations comply with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and company policies
Monitor and control costs, identify cost-saving opportunities through re-negotiation and improve operational efficiency
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing issues promptly and effectively
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve carrier performance
Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform strategic decisions.
Coach / support and to present value propositions enabling business closure
Collaborate with Global & Regional Ocean Leadership and drive the development and/or deployment customer solutions within the region
Demonstrate value creation to all relevant stakeholders internally and externally to our customers and strategic partners
Addressing and responding to critical resolution that represent a risk to the business within Ocean business line
Experience
Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in ocean freight procurement, operations and carrier management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Graduation in commerce or science.
Master’s degree in supply chain, Management, Engineering or related functional area will be an added advantage
Skills
Carrier relationship with all major MLO’s and NVOCCs
Negotiation and relationship-building abilities
Strong leadership and team management skills
Knowledge in handling IMDG cargo
In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
