Good Business Lab is an independent, non-profit labor innovation company. We use rigorous academic research to prove that worker well-being programs have business impacts. We develop market-ready, scalable interventions that benefit both workers and businesses. Our goal is to disrupt the traditional notion of business and show that worker well-being can be a good business practice. The founders of the lab are Ach Adhvaryu - Professor of Economics and Director of 21st Century India Center at the School of Global Policy and Strategy, UC San Diego (www.achadhvaryu.com), Anant Ahuja-head of Organization Development at Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd., and Anant Nyshadham- Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan (www.anantnyshadham.com). Good Business Lab (GBL) develops programs that build the business case for worker well-being. Our projects aim to generate evidence on a variety of topics ranging from enhancing workers' migration experience and mental health through a ‘buddy system’ to unlocking women’s economic participation in the auto industry through coalition building and an industry-wide gender charter. We also implement evidence-based solutions, such as providing soft skills training to promote growth opportunities for blue-collar workers and deploying GBL’s effective grievance redressal system for workers in manufacturing settings. We have also been building a portfolio of diverse projects focused on issues at the intersection of climate action and worker wellbeing, women in the emerging platform economy, and the nutrition requirements of workers in the garment industry, among other critical issues. As we grow, we are looking to hire a Manager in the New Program Development (NPD) team at GBL. This role will focus on driving the creation, design, and development of new programs aimed at improving worker well-being in businesses across a variety of industries. This role will be responsible for identifying emerging opportunities, designing innovative initiatives, and working cross-functionally to bring them to life. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social impact, experience in program development, and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. In particular, this role will collaborate extensively with GBL’s private sector engagement, fundraising, research, field, design, and leadership teams. It is a heavily cross-functional role that requires strong communication and collaboration skills, and openness to feedback. Qualifications & Experience
(The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role):
Experience and education: 5+ years of experience in program development, partnerships, fundraising, new initiatives, project management, or a related field, including substantial time in a management role. Experience working with businesses, nonprofit organizations, or social enterprises in a worker-focused or sustainability-oriented context is a plus. A combination of formal education and professional experience will be considered.
Skills:
Strong understanding of program design, development, and evaluation methodologies.
Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects from inception to launch.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a diverse set of stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess data, draw insights, and apply them to program design and improvement.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders at events and build relationships with strategic partners.

Program Scoping & Market Positioning
Assess the landscape of potential partnerships, funding opportunities, and market needs to identify areas for new program development that will expand GBL’s portfolio of workplace solutions.
Lead the ideation and conceptualization of new initiatives aimed at enhancing worker well-being and advancing business outcomes, leveraging both GBL research and external trends.
Develop detailed program blueprints, including objectives, strategies, and key outcomes.
Design scalable and adaptable program models that can be customized to different industries or regions.
Collaborate with internal teams to refine and validate program designs based on feedback from stakeholders, partners, and potential program participants.
Engage with external stakeholders to gather feedback and refine initiatives as needed, ensuring that programs continue to meet market needs and achieve desired outcomes.
Strategic Partnership Development
Build and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, including corporate leaders, social impact organizations, academic institutions, and potential donors or funders.
Pitch new program concepts to external partners, securing buy-in and aligning their goals with GBL’s mission to create scalable, high-impact programs.
Leverage GBL’s network and industry partnerships to promote new programs, generating excitement and engagement from potential collaborators and funders.
Represent GBL in external forums, conferences, and industry events to share insights, foster relationships, and stay at the forefront of trends in business ethics, worker well-being, and sustainability.
Work closely with the program management team to stay updated on program implementation at a high level and deepen relations with program partners as required to drive further growth into an industry or topic for GBL.
Pitch Development & Proposal Writing
Create compelling proposals and presentations to pitch new programs to key stakeholders, funders, and strategic partners.
Develop persuasive materials (e.g., pitch decks, concept notes) that clearly outline the potential impact, ROI, and feasibility of new initiatives. Tailor pitches to diverse audiences, including corporate executives, foundation leaders, government agencies, and nonprofit partners, highlighting how the program meets both business and social objectives.
Collaborate with internal teams to design clear impact metrics and success indicators for new programs, ensuring they meet both internal goals and partner expectations.
Collaborate with partners to convert innovative program ideas into concrete large-scale initiatives, ensuring they are actionable, impactful, and sustainable.
