How You Will Contribute: 

CIENA's Optical Networks products portfolio comprises of a broad family of products for Aggregation, Metro and Core networks of Telecom Carriers and GCNs. Successful candidate will play a vital role in advancing our automation-focused test strategies for system-level validation, developing feature & solution test strategies, test plans, and test execution for Ciena’s Optical Network products based on technologies such as OTN Transport/Switching, and associated Network Management System.

• Evaluate System requirements & Functional specifications and develop comprehensive solution test plans to validate customer use-cases and product capabilities. Conduct and participate in peer reviews for Test plans documents and Automation Scripts.
• Actively develop automation scripts using Automation Framework to validate customer use case scenarios and workflows, continue to evolve the capabilities of already developed automation scripts.
• Execute system level tests for network elements using fully automated, semi-automated and manual test methods, providing coverage across all North bound user interfaces such as CLI, Netconf, Rest, gRPC etc. as well as Network Management Systems.
• Analyze and characterize defects found during test execution and work closely with the design on debugging and closure of issues.
• Plan and build test lab environments for solution-level test execution.
• Conduct knowledge sharing sessions on Core Optical networks technologies.

The Must Haves:   

• Bachelors or Masters in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Optical Communications with 6+ years of relevant experience of system test in telecommunications domain.
• Expertise in OTN Transport and Automation Development.
• Fluent in automation language such as Python for test automation
• Ability to understand customers’ needs, expectations, and perspective. Knowledge of Transport Network Design of Telecom Service Providers and Content Provider Networks, and experience of working with R&D team on product defects in Customer Networks.
• Experience in test effort estimation and captive planning based on Requirement Specifications.
• Proficient in Test Planning to validate Telecom Network Solutions and Use Case Scenarios that include interactions of different product features, including NMS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience of working closely with design engineers for debugging of product defects.
• Strong communication and inter-personal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with a global multisite team environment.
• Proficient with a wide range of test equipment and Knowledge of relevant ITU-T, IETF, IEEE and ANSI standards.
