As a Lead Database Administrator (DBA), you will provide technical expertise and support for database technologies in a global environment. Your primary responsibilities will include managing MS-SQL, ORACLE and MYSQL databases, performing code migrations, patch analysis, and database design. You will resolve performance and capacity issues, ensuring optimal database operation.
You will collaborate with IT teams and customers, delivering strong customer support while managing and monitoring databases in a controlled environment. This role involves supporting production environments and participating in development projects using best practices.
You will join a global team in a 24x7 production environment, including a rotating on-call schedule (off-hours and weekends), and work bi-weekly shifts alternating between USA and EU time zones.
Provide technical support for the company's MySQL/ Oracle database servers (Unix/Windows).
Provide technical support for the company's MS SQL/ Oracle Server databases and associated technologies (Advantage) SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, including all SQL versions (from 2000 to 2019).
Install database systems and coordinating installation with the Business and Vendors.
Perform database upgrades, monitoring, maintenance, resource management, capacity planning
Maintain security and overall reliability of all database platforms.
Apply patches to fix bugs and/or enhance functionality and security as required and in conjunction with the company's procedures for change control.
Perform code promotions in compliance with the company's procedures for change control.
Work with various internal teams such as windows, storage, backup & network administration teams to coordinate and troubleshoot infrastructure related issues.
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for critical production databases and applications.
Must knowledge in database in performance tuning.
Ability to work independently and multitask as required.
Provide afterhours support as required and be part of on-call rotation 24x7 including weekends.
Availability to work in the Europe / United States time zones as part of the Global SQL team.
12+ years of experience in managing SQL Server administration.
Min 3+ years of experience in managing Oracle DBA administration required.
Any cloud DBA administration experience is an added benefit.
Proven experience in automating DBA tasks using Ansible and Python.
Knowledge on PostgreSQL and MySQL DBA administration is a plus.
Weekly once Night Shift Saturday and Sunday Off.
Database Installation & Configuration: Expertise in installing, configuring, and managing MS SQL Server environments (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019).
High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Advanced knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Database Mirroring for ensuring database uptime and disaster recovery.
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Proficient in SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, and resolving performance bottlenecks using execution plans, SQL Profiler, and DMVs.
Backup & Recovery: Implementing and managing database backup strategies, ensuring data integrity, and performing point-in-time recovery.
Security Management: Expertise in database security, managing user roles, permissions, encryption (TDE), and compliance with auditing standards.
Replication & Data Synchronization: Skilled in SQL Server replication techniques (Transactional, Merge, Snapshot) and data synchronization between multiple databases.
SQL Scripting & Automation: Advanced T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for automating tasks such as backups, monitoring, and maintenance.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Strong diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving issues related to performance, deadlocks, and hardware failures.
Monitoring & Reporting: Experience with SQL monitoring tools (SCOM, SQL Profiler, Redgate, FOGLight) and generating performance and capacity reports.
Database Migration & Upgrades: Expertise in migrating databases between versions and platforms, and performing large-scale data migrations.
Cloud Database Management: Familiar with Azure SQL Database and Amazon RDS for SQL Server, including cloud backup, restoration, and scaling.
Compliance & Auditing: Knowledge of compliance regulations (GDPR, HIPAA) and experience in auditing database changes, queries, and access.
