The Materials Database and Evaluation Engineer contributes to a team working with complex methods to describe material behavior and failure mechanisms. This position supports the team activities through implementing evaluation methods, keeping database structures functioning and on track, and by executing data evaluations.


The team is part of the Materials department which is responsible of the materials for Large Gas Turbines and Large Steam Turbines. It consists of experienced engineers and expert level scientists.


Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:


The primarily focus of this position is on maintaining and developing existing database solutions as well as data evaluation tools. Crucial type of tools are:


  • Material raw test result database,
  • Evaluation tools to determine material property curves from raw test data,
  • Interface to Material Center (property curve database),
  • Substance management and substance compliance tools/database.

Besides this, the scope of work will include topics such as


  • Collect existing material test data for evaluation,
  • Perform material data evaluations based on existing methodologies.

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:


  • MS in Software Development, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, or another related field,
  • 2 to 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience,
  • Deep knowledge of database structures and maintenance,
  • Software Programming languages (Python, C++, R, Fortran, VBA, etc.)
  • Understanding of statistical and probabilistic methods.
  • Advanced English skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Understanding of materials science (typical failure modes, effect of alloying elements, etc., mainly metals),
  • Project management skills,
  • German Skills
