About the position:
The Materials Engineer is part of the Materials, Equipment, and Quality team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and is responsible for providing materials & corrosion engineering research and development services to Chevron operating companies, affiliates & capital projects worldwide, to deploy innovative and fit-for-purpose materials, corrosion, coatings related solutions.
Key responsibilities:
Support development of R&D project proposals and gain alignment with Business Unit’s.
Track and report R&D project status, milestones, and spend.
Analyze trends of equipment condition, reliability, and failure data to identify R&D opportunities
Support Enterprise 3D-printing effort.
Predict corrosion rates in upstream and downstream process environments using corrosion modeling and simulation tools.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy, Corrosion, Materials Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or related engineering/scientific discipline from a recognized (AICTE) University.
Skilled competency level in Demonstrated experience with data analysis, physical metallurgy, electrochemistry, and/or damage mechanisms.
Fundamental competency level Background in fixed equipment (piping, equipment, pipelines, heat exchangers, tanks) integrity management.
Fundamental competency level in Prior project management experience across the entire R&D cycle, from ideation to deployment.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of industrial post-graduate engineering experience, with 7+ years in an R&D role.
Master's degree in Corrosion, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Material Science, and/or Chemistry from a recognized (AICTE) University.
Hands-on, field experience at an oil & gas operating facility
Professional Engineering registration
Experience with data analytics and digital tools
Project management certifications
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
