The Materials Engineer contributes to a team working on various materials engineering topics such as material development, material characterization, as well as manufacturing and service support. This position contributes to the team activities through execution of tasks including, but not limited to,


  • Maintain Materials Specifications,
  • Answer Material Substitution Requests,
  • Answer manufacturing Quality Notifications,
  • Maintain documentation required for Substance Compliance (e.g., REACH regulation),
  • Perform material property data evaluations,
  • and work on other materials-related support requests.

The team is part of the Materials department which is responsible of the materials for Large Gas Turbines and Large Steam Turbines. It consists of experienced engineers and expert level scientists.


Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:


The primarily focus of this position is execution of support and development tasks in materials area. Typical responsibilities include,


  • Check Materials Specifications for actuality and correctness,
  • Write new and revise Materials Specifications,
  • Evaluate Materials Specifications and Industrial Standards for composition of materials and alloys,
  • Maintain documentation required for Substance Compliance (e.g., REACH regulation),
  • Answer Material Substitution Requests,
  • Answer manufacturing Quality Notifications,
  • Collect relevant test data for given materials and properties and perform data evaluations based on existing methodologies.

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:


  • Master or Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Materials, or another related field,
  • 2 to 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience,
  • Knowledge of materials compositions and materials properties,
  • Expertise in international Substance Compliance (e.g., REACH),
  • MS Word and MS Excel proficiency,
  • Advanced English skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Teamcenter and SAP skills,
  • Project management skills,
  • German skills.
