STM Journals email marketing operations team supports the set up and deployment of data driven email campaigns, focused mainly on content acquisition and journal author enablement, accelerating highly cited open access and subscription growth. This global team of ten is split between production and data management activities.
About the RoleWe are seeking a
Marketing Automation Specialist to join our team. This role will support the STM Journals marketing organization in the day-to-day set up and deployment of data-driven email campaigns. The campaigns are mainly focused on content acquisition for both Gold Open Access and hybrid journals, accelerating highly cited open access and subscription growth. In this role, you will drive operational efficiencies through development of optimal email campaign workflows to ensure automation where possible, adopting a test-and-learn approach to improve and continuously develop according to business objectives.This role reports directly to the Head of Campaign Management in STM Journal Marketing.
Responsibilities- Work closely with campaign owners to translate business objectives into technical email campaign requirements.
- Assist in managing queue of incoming campaigns to assess production readiness and/or push to requester for more information
- Set up email test and deployment workflows in the email deployment platform.
- Run tests/proofs on all static and dynamic email campaigns, and route for marketing approval.
- Follow established quality control processes and deploy all email campaigns to a high-level of accuracy and meet required deadlines.
- Ensure email campaign tracking is set up properly for adequate web traffic and attribution reporting.
- Develop and maintain workflows to generate target and content data for STM Journals email campaigns, with a focus on scalability, reproducibility, and operational efficiency.
- Build knowledge of STM Journals key marketing data sources and advise marketers on segmentation options to achieve best results.
- Understand the core database architecture and familiarise yourself with interrogating data to obtain quality segments for optimal engagement.
- Continuously improve overall email market reach, without sacrificing engagement metrics.
- Improve email deliverability for specific domains following guidance of deliverability expert.
- Measure operational performance of campaigns
- Monitor customer reply mailbox on a daily basis and process complaints and/or unsubscribes.
- Create automated workflows, for both data generation and email deployment, to build completely automated recurring campaigns.
- Create and update email best practice documentation to enable efficient knowledge sharing across the team.
Requirements- University level degree / or equivalent in marketing-related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in a similar email campaign deployment or marketing operations role
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience building and executing email campaign workflows with a major email deployment tool (i.e., Salesforce, Adobe Campaign, or equivalent)
- Experience with data-driven marketing and customer segmentation
- Highly proficient with handling, processing large volumes of data. Ability to drive and communicate business insight from campaign data
- Working knowledge of email-specific HTML and CSS
- Understanding of deliverability principles and IP reputation
- Motivated self-starter with a commitment to problem identification/mitigation and process optimization
- Organised with the ability to multi-task, priortise, manage workload and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to manage relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Basic understanding of data protection standards
- Inquisitive and eager to stay up to date with marketing technology trends and innovate in day-to-day work
