ROLE DEFINITION:
Caterpillar’s Manufacturing Test Engineer position works both independently and as part of a team to Develop, maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing. In addition, Manufacturing Engineers function as a specialist and subject matter expert for technical planning for Component and Product validation throughout the manufacturing facility.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Test engineers are responsible for designing and implementing the In-Process and Final Quality tests that ensure the quality and the functionality of a product. Should possess Technical knowledge on Machines, powertrain, layout, Function, Failure modes.
· Design, develop and implement cost-effective, repeatable, and scalable Testing processes for drivetrain components and off highway vehicle
· Develop and implement Test processes in line with Product specification and Caterpillar Manufacturing standard processes
· Plan, Perform Process design and Analyze requirements to make recommendations for facility systems, processes, equipment needs, and engineering product designs
· Complete both specialized and broad-based assignments / projects which may require collaboration and integration with other functions
· Evaluate projects and prepare feasibility studies to design a test system define desired results, assess value proposition and determine project plans
· Analyze Test tooling and Product test failures and evaluate tool characteristics and requirements Virtually and Physical validation.
SKILL:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyse situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
LEVEL WORKING KNOWLEDGE:
• Print Reading, (Hydraulics & Electrical)
• GDNT Understanding,
• Basic Hydraulic System, Electrical system & Pneumatic System Design and Function,
• To Develop a Hydraulic & Electrical Schematic and test machine design according to the Test functionalities
• Basic Machine & Component Test Understanding and execution through Design and Validation process
• Troubleshooting of Mechanical, Hydraulic and Electrical systems
• Machine/Component Function Understanding (Basic Working Principles)
• Basic Understanding of PLC & HMI Programming and troubleshooting.
• Machine/Component Test script Development in LabVIEW and similar Data Acquisition systems
• Develop and creation of test Database with Analysis of Test Data and creation of Data visuality through Office & Power BI tools.
QUALIFICATION:
· University or technical school degree in a manufacturing engineering-related discipline
· Thorough knowledge of Product function, manufacturing and Testing concepts
· Minimum of 5 year of Testing – Validation engineering -related experience
· Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills Desired Qualifications Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
· Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
