Pratt and Whitney’s Controls & Diagnostics System (CDS) organization is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Engineering Manager – Software Engineering at its India Engineering Center (IEC). It is an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the successes of P&W and ensure our future competitive edge through successful execution of key tasks associated with the expansion of the P&W India Engineering Center, Engineering talent development, and task execution oversight.


 The position requires a leader with good customer focus, strong technical acumen, outstanding critical thinking ability, and crisp communication skills to build, support and guide the team to meet program, organizational demands.  


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Plan and provide technical leadership for a group of software engineers to ensure commitments are met
  • Ensure technical rigor and depth of all deliverables on safety critical software development program
  • Lead and manage the development of project staff. Attract, and develop software engineers and software engineering leaders
  • Lead change initiatives: identify and implement creative, compliant ways to balance the cost of change with engineering value
  • Utilize Earned Value Management System in program execution
  • Utilize program metrics to drive change and improvements
  • Collaborate with certification authorities and software quality to ensure successful insertion of software changes in new and fielded engines
  • Coordinate and manage the development of tools and methods to automate process

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of prior relevant engineering and management experience
  • Proven experience in leading teams engaged in safety critical software development and certification
  • Leadership experience in avionics software development & certification (civil-certified projects under DO-178B/C, Level A)
  • Proven track record of successful project execution leadership, while meeting cost, schedule, scope, and quality commitments
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written & oral communicator and change agent
  • Strong technical and people leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor and develop staff.
  • Possess a collaborative way of working
  • Demonstrated success in balancing business needs and affordability
