Project Summary and Position Overview:
"Platform Engineering - Core AI and Data Platform group provides systems development and support for all of the content processing needs for Thomson Reuters Legal and Tax business units. All of the content used in print and electronic products is enriched from systems developed and maintained by this group. The group oversees and executes on a wide range of project types, ranging from cost saving infrastructure to revenue driving product development initiatives. 
 


About the role:


  • The key area of focus for this position is serving as a Manager - Technology to maintain, enhance and support systems with excellent proficiency in  Java, Spring, AWS (basics), Javascript (basics), SQL, Python (basics) and experience in design of full stack applications in addition to People Management.
  • Develop, manage and prepare best software development team.
  • Guide, coach and mentor software development engineers.
  • Provide project management and technical leadership for every aspect of software.
  • Supervise architecture plus lead efforts to develop technical roadmap of all projects.
  • Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software.
  • Perform closely with Engineers, Developers and Product Management throughout organization to influence product development assisting or improving products.
  • Involve in strategic plans to accomplish technical as well as business with leadership chain, team and with customers.
  • Manage and execute software development projects from beginning to finish.
  • Evaluate projects, develop and update schedules plus supervise project status.
  • Collaborate effectively with all team members as well as hold regular team meetings.
  • Follow up and provide timely reporting on issues to management.

About you:


  • At least 11+ years of large-scale software development or application engineering with working knowledge in languages Java, Python, and JavaScript.
  • 5 + years of experience with Java/J2EE Technologies.
  • 4 + years of experience with Database; Strong Database Experience with good knowledge of writing SQL scripts.
  • Application of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) techniques and implementation using Design Patterns.
  • Past experience in migrating application from and to different versions of Java/Oracle etc.
  • Past experience in migrating Java/Oracle based applications to the Cloud is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AWS capabilities.
  • Familiarity with DR and HA strategies.
  • Contributing in Designing and building applications based on the business requirements.
  • Strong scripting skills with Python, Ruby etc. is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of project management concepts and agile methodologies.
  • Experience with leading agile delivery teams in complex technology environments is preferred.
  • Ability to network effectively across our client's organizations and collaborate on proposed technology solutions with technology and business SMEs.
  • People Manager - Strong Leader.
  • Highly motivated with strong attention to details.
  • Exposure to continuous integration and test automation practices to support improved delivery to production.
  • Strong foundation of software development processes and procedures, specifically Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools like ADO, Jira etc.
