Acquia seeks a passionate Manager of Quality Engineering with expertise in efficient automated testing. You will collaborate with developers, test engineers, and product managers to deliver exceptional SaaS and PaaS applications. As a key member of the R&D leadership team, you will lead testing strategy and drive test automation requirements.


Our quality engineering team is dedicated to continuous improvement, optimising testing processes, automation, innovation, and best practices. As the manager of our quality engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring applications and services meet the standards of quality expected in our SaaS and PaaS software market.


In this role you will:


  • Own, maintain and govern QE best practices and tools
  • Deliver product quality for our SaaS and PaaS applications
  • Manage and mentor members of a growing team, and promote effective teamwork
  • Ensure adherence to Acquia’s standards for product quality and maintainability
  • Drive QE best practices and processes within the engineering team, and identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Help product team prioritize quality requirements and be a champion of the engineering team in release/sprint planning
  • Improve and accelerate our Product, System Integration, Performance and Load testing practices 
  • Facilitate automated testing code reviews and establish best practices for automated tests
  • Perform project-level staff planning to identify key/required skills and engineers
  • Work closely with Project and Program Managers to ensure that program schedules are complete and committed to by the team
  • Work closely with Scrum Masters and POs to ensure that all development activities occur in a timely manner and to the level of quality demanded by the business requirements
  • Organize and coordinate team, project, and release activities with the PMO, Product Managers and Engineering Leadership team
  • Hire and train/retain top talent on the team

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Total experience of 10-15 years
  • 3+ years of experience in managing an engineering team
  • In-depth experience with the full product development lifecycle 
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and motivate top engineering talent
  • Test automation development experience in designing and building enterprise test automation solutions
  • Solid understanding of testing tools, techniques, and methodologies
  • Experience testing Microservices and APIs
  • Experience with load and performance testing
  • Experience with Agile (eg Scrum) and test driven development
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD)
  • Programming experience in any of the languages (GO, PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript) or equivalent
  • Hands on Amazon Web Service (EC2, S3) or Google Cloud or Azure
  • Knowledge of docker, containers or Kubernetes

  • Experience working within a Product development organisation and therefore contributing to mid/long-term product roadmap and lifecycle.
  • Experience testing distributed, scalable and low latency solutions
  • Experience with Linux OS system management
  • Hands on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or containerisation concepts
