Role Overview
The Software Testing Specialist will be responsible for development, execution, and optimization of testing strategies and creation and execution of individual test cases for applications and products in their portfolio. This role involves automating testing activities, so they can be injected into pipelines and release workflows and ensuring compliance with international regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of quality within the organization.
What will you do in this role
- Review and analyze requirement specification documents to understand the software's intended functionality, performance criteria, and behavior. Identify testable aspects of the software and clarify any ambiguities or uncertainties with stakeholders (e.g., business analysts, developers, project managers).
- Develop comprehensive test plans that outline the scope, approach, resources, and schedule of the testing activities. Define the test objectives, entry and exit criteria, and deliverables for the testing phase.
- Create detailed and structured test cases based on the requirements and design specifications. Design test cases that cover functional, non-functional, regression, and exploratory testing scenarios. Ensure that test cases are traceable to requirements to validate that all requirements are tested.
- Develop automated test scripts using appropriate testing frameworks and programming languages (e.g., Selenium, Python, JavaScript, RobotFramework). Implement reusable and maintainable automation scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage. Integrate automated tests into the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Identify, document, and report defects or issues discovered during testing using defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA). Work closely with developers to reproduce, diagnose, and resolve defects. Retest resolved defects to ensure they have been fixed correctly.
- Regularly update and maintain test cases and test scripts to reflect changes in requirements or software updates. Continuously review and optimize tests to ensure they remain effective and efficient.
- Conduct performance and load testing to ensure the software can handle expected usage levels. Use performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner, JMeter) to simulate real-world usage and analyse the results.
- Generate and present test reports that summarize test activities, defects found, and overall software quality. Provide clear and concise documentation of test results and any deviations from expected behaviour.
- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to stay aligned with the development team. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and business analysts, to ensure a shared understanding of quality goals and requirements.
What should you have
- Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Software testing through fully automated test cases.
- Familiarity with various testing methodologies, techniques, and tools (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, RobotFramework).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices (Github, infrastructure as code, observability, continuous integration/continuous deployment - CI/CD).
- Possesses both theoretical and practical knowledge, with the ability to autonomously implement given tasks, including producing and deploying pieces of code.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Cloud-native, ideally AWS certified.
- Product and customer-centric approach.
