Job Purpose/Objective - Overall responsibility in ensuring Safe operations to achieve the required targets
Key responsibilities:-
- Monitor the ship working operations to ensure targets and deadlines are met. Ensure berthing and Un-berthing Timelines set up are achieved.
- Managing day to day operations with respect to vessel, gate, yard, Documentation and ICD activities.
- Plan and co-ordinate shifts in accordance with the terminal’s requirements.
- Tool box talks to be conducted for the respective shift team members about the no of ships, manpower, breakdown issues, any incidents last 24 hrs, etc.
- Liaise with the maintenance department to maximize equipment availability.
- Manages the entire terminal and leads the workforce to achieve the target.
- Should able to handle and manage the emergency effectively.
- Allocates job responsibilities based on work and reallocates when required
- Liaise with rostering staff to determine the availability of labour to meet operational demands.
- Liaise with external stake holders CFS, CCBA, Port, Customs, CISF, Police and transporters.
- Achievement of optimum productivity levels both in land and seaside.
- Ensuring reliability of service to customers.
- Effective monitoring to achieve set operational Goal / Target.
- Trend setting and analysis of operational parameters.
- Continually review, identify and introduce improved operating procedures and systems.
- Ensure correct and safe working practices in the terminal.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Qualifications and competencies:-
- Minimum five years of supervisory experience in similar container terminal operations.
- Understanding of equipment and machinery functionality.
- Knowledge in Equipment operations
- Understanding of expenditure, revenue and costing structures.
- Awareness of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Sound customer/client relationship skills.
- Computer literacy/keyboard skills, including an understanding of the terminal Equipment’s and Terminal operating systems.
- Effective communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to co-ordinate activities and monitor and, if necessary, modify performance of terminal supervisors.
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
Educational Qualification (min) - Diploma / Any UG
Preferred Certifications if any - Certified terminal operations coursed/certified safety courses
Range/ Min no of years - of overall Experience required - Graduate: 7 to 10 years or Diploma: 9 to 11 years
Min no of years of Industry specific experience required if any & the industry type - Minimum 5 years’ Experience in terminal operations
