As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Asset & Wealth Management, you will spend 70% of your time actively coding and developing solutions, while dedicating 30% to team management and administrative responsibilities. You will guide your team in implementing cutting-edge technologies, ensuring compliance with standards, and meeting business requirements.
Job responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance on daily tasks and activities.
- Set expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Identify and manage dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications effectively.
- Oversee stakeholder relationships and ensure the team’s work adheres to compliance standards and service level agreements.
- Foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect, prioritizing diverse representation within the team.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages (Java, Spring Boot, Python) & AWS (Note: AWS experience is mandatory)
- Experience with middleware/integration technologies such as Kafka and MQ
- Proven experience in leading technology projects and managing technologists
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Basic knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Practical cloud-native experience, with hands-on experience in AWS; AWS Developer Associate certification is preferred
- Education in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
