Job Description

The Editorial Indexing Manager will oversee a team of professional Editorial Associates based in Hyderabad performing editorial indexing tasks including updating Legal and Tax and Accounting indexes which will then be published to print and online; documenting best practices for indexing; monitoring publishing schedules; maintaining quality expectations for staff by performing metrics and feedback. This new team will work closely with their US-UK-Canadian-based counterparts to collectively support Commentary editorial in multiple jurisdictions.
 


About the role


As a manager, you will organize and supervise a team of EAs. Working with the Indexing Director and other teams within Commentary Editorial, you will:


  • Train, supervise, organize, and support the EAs within your team and work collaboratively to support the indexing team as a whole.


  • Ensure the EAs support the editorial teams with the updating, publication, delivery, and presentation of indexes for Commentary Editorial.


  • Develop and implement consistent and efficient editorial workflows and processes for Commentary Indexing Editorial.


  • In addition to this, the Manager will assist with:
    Managing the timeliness and quality of indexes produced by the team; applying metrics and other criteria to help gauge performance.
    Identifying development areas and growing talent through timely feedback and coaching to direct reports, as well as effectively addressing underperformance.
    Collaborating with the Global Commentary Editorial management team, as well as the Product Development, Content Management, Author Relations, Print Strategy, and Content Operations teams regarding the updating of products.
    Driving standards and leveraging best practices across Commentary Editorial teams.
    Contributing to the creation of tools and enhancements that drive Commentary production, including optimization processing and machine learning.
    Executing business plans to meet or exceed Commentary-based product, content, revenue, cost, and growth goals. 



About You:
The successful candidate is likely to have:


  • Legal degree from an accredited law school or undergraduate degree with 10+ years of legal or publishing experience.


  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.


  • A demonstrable interest and ability to work both independently and as part of a team to implement and drive change.


  • Experience working across time zones and with multiple jurisdictions is preferred.


  • Experience supervising others preferred.
