Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) is the Merchant Acquirer, Processor and Marketing partner for millions of merchants around the world who accept American Express Cards. This exciting role sits in Global Strategy & Capabilities (GS&C) team supporting GMNS by being a sought after partner to deliver a frictionless value added experience to meet changing Merchant and Partner needs, enable Global Acceptance and drive future growth.. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the Merchant business by leading analytics and developing relationships across teams and with senior leaders.


How will you make an impact in this role?


As the successful candidate, you will provide insights and recommendations to inform business strategy and will also work closely with key business partners. The candidate should have strong technical, analytical and project management skills, be detail oriented and be able to collaborate across teams. The role involves leading complex analytical projects that involve working with multiple stakeholders, analyzing large data sets and understanding impacts to key GMNS business metrics.


Responsibilities:


  • Leading the analytics, and reporting across segments and identifying new business opportunities by conducting deep analytics on industries, merchants, and card members
  • Creating world class analytics and adding valuable insights to inform Merchant Services strategy
  • Establishing and maintaining close relationships with key partners in GMNS to understand business strategies, and address challenges and opportunities
  • Partner with various teams (including other regional teams, SABE, Finance, Pricing and other GMNS functions) to optimize alignment of best practice and understand/deliver on shared objectives.
  • Lead and support strategic projects.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Strong analytical skills, quantitatively oriented, and comfortable working with large sets of data
  • Demonstrated experience with data manipulation techniques
  • Thought leadership and creativity in solving challenging, and potentially ambiguous, business problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively disseminate information to audience with various levels of technical knowledge
  • Ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams by influencing with sound logic
  • Demonstrated ability to work nimbly and independently across a matrix organization partnering
  • Expertise in database management systems is required; Knowledge and experience with Lumi, Google cloud platform plus
  • Tableau dashboard development experience preferred but not required.
