About Team: Antibody team


The antibody team is involved in development and engineering of antibodies, with a deep focus on reagent quality and specificity. The core activities of team include design, development, purification, conjugation and testing of antibodies in a variety of immunoassay applications using current tools and technologies. The goal of the program is sophisticated product development and creation of product specific information to promote research use.


Role & Responsibilities


Role:


To be an integral part of an antibody development team with a focus on performance and specificity using innovative molecular, protein, and cell biology methods. The successful candidate will be joining Bangalore R&D leadership team in developing products and solutions for developing, validating and characterizing antibodies for the Thermo Fisher Scientific Antibody portfolio. The candidate should be well versed with Antibody development using state-of-art cell, molecular and recombinant methods for creating data sets to enable high quality products to customers. This position involves people management, internal, external and cross function teamwork to drive technical strategies for execution in R&D projects involving state-of-art methods.


Responsibilities:


  • Contribute in a fast- paced environment towards Antibody development & Validation
  • R&D Manager role in new Antibody development projects using single B cell sorting, with vast experience in experimental planning and execution to meet the program schedule
  • Develop a team of scientists in matrix style operation, provide technical and operational supervision.
  • Good scientific writing skills, establishing technical protocols for effective transfer to operation teams.
  • Mentoring and training junior scientists in research, designing and experimental execution, interpreting data and data presentation to the stakeholders
  • Good documentation practice is a must to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Delivering high quality results according to project schedule in support of product commercialization from concept to launch including early feasibility, development and validation phases.
  • Support the manufacturing team for technical support and quality by providing technical guidance.

Candidate Requirement:


Education & Experience levels:


Applicants should have a Ph.D in Biotechnology/Life Sciences or related subject area with over 10 years proven experience. Minimum 3-4 years of Industrial experience is required.


Nature of experience:


  • Experience with antibody development and engineering including hybridoma, single B cell, and other recombinant antibody platforms
  • Deep understanding of antibody development using single B cell sorting methodology
  • Knowledge of B cell biology and the science of antibody development is an advantage
  • Experience in applying scientific principles and concepts in antibody development platforms with knowledge of emerging technologies such as deep sequencing or mining of antibody repertoires using NGS (next generation sequencing), phage or cell display, affinity maturation etc. Spatial omics knowledge is a plus.
  • Prior work in single cell molecular biology workflows, next generation sequencing and/or display technologies desirable.
  • Strong background in flow cytometry including single cell sorting, immunophenotyping, multicolor flow cytometry and panel design, rare population analysis
  • Proficiency in high-throughput molecular cloning methods
  • Thorough in biochemical and immunoassay workflows such as recombinant protein expression and purification, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, IF, IHC
  • Working knowledge of fluorescence microscopy, fluorescence detection technologies is helpful
  • Broad knowledge and experience in molecular biology, protein design, engineering, purification, and conjugation
  • Ability to provide technical trouble shooting to resolve scientific problems.
  • Authorship of peer-reviewed publications with post-doctoral experience and a strong, independent understanding of standard and emerging research protocols and techniques are preferred. GLP experience is a must.
  • Experience in authoring and optimizing standard operating procedures with a focus on reproducibility
  • Skills for identifying deviations from expected outcomes, problem solving and suggesting alternatives
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work alongside colleagues from different backgrounds
  • Prior project and people leadership experience preferred.
