Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in system analysis, design, and development on the IBM mainframe platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and implementing applications while providing technical support and ensuring compliance with organizational standards. The successful candidate will have solid expertise in IBM products and a strong background in the financial services industry or other highly regulated environments.


Responsibilities:


Development and Implementation:


  • Responsible for development and project implementation activities related to mainframe systems.
  • Develop and enhance existing applications to meet business requirements.

Software Development Lifecycle:


  • Participate in the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering and design to coding, testing, and implementation.
  • Ensure all phases of development adhere to established methodologies and documentation standards.

Quality Assurance and Change Management:


  • Conduct quality assurance activities to ensure system integrity and functionality.
  • Manage changes to applications while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and standards.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:


  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve complex issues and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system-related concerns and implement effective solutions.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in system analysis, design, and development on the IBM mainframe platform.

Technical Skills:


  • IBM Products Proficiency: Solid expertise in IBM products, including z/OS, DB2, COBOL, CICS, and MQ.


  • Application Integration: Experienced in integrating applications between mainframe and open platforms, ensuring seamless interconnectivity.


  • SDLC Methodologies: Proficient in software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and related documentation practices.


  • Industry Experience: Experience working in the financial services industry or other highly regulated organizations, demonstrating a solid understanding of compliance requirements.


Day-to-Day Activities:


  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and refine application requirements.
  • Design, develop, and implement mainframe applications based on business needs.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of developed solutions.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Document development processes and maintain records of changes and enhancements.
