M&R Supervisor

Mission:


The M&R Supervisor will oversee the Maintenance & Repair (M&R) activities for both dry and reefer containers within the assigned geographical region. The role is responsible for managing and controlling the M&R processes to ensure containers are repaired efficiently and cost-effectively, adhering to CMA CGM’s established procedures and guidelines.


Responsibilities:


    • Supervise and optimize the repair and maintenance of containers (dry and reefer) in the designated region.
    • Monitor M&R cost effectiveness and ensure adherence to established budgets.
    • Approve or reject repair estimates in line with existing agreements and procedures.
    • Manage out-of-service time and ensure timely repairs to support business continuity.
    • Ensure compliance of M&R suppliers and depots with CMA CGM’s procedures and standards, including auditing practices and repair standards.
    • Handle technical assistance and manage reefer repairs, including spare parts procurement, kit supply, and data downloads.
    • Monitor and report on M&R performance, including cost trends and KPIs.
    • Provide monthly reports to Group Head Office (HO) and Dubai Regional Office (DRO) Managers.
    • Analyze cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce M&R costs, including reducing out-of-service time and damaged units.
    • Track and guide agencies for maximizing M&R recoveries.
    • Coordinate M&R activities with the Equipment Team in HO and regional teams to resolve all M&R-related issues.
    • Work closely with Claims Department, agents, and suppliers to resolve damages and other related issues.
    • Provide training to agents, suppliers, and shippers on CMA CGM’s M&R procedures and business requirements.
    • Manage relationships with external parties such as container manufacturers, inspection agencies, and local depots.
    • Participate in M&R projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, repair processes, and service delivery.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of future M&R tools and processes.
    • Conduct regular field visits to ensure M&R procedures are being followed and that repairs are performed to the expected standards.
    • Provide on-the-ground support and expert control over all M&R activities at depots and terminals.
    • Validate and approve repair invoices and ensure compliance with approved M&R budgets.
    • Ensure local branches report M&R expenses accurately and timely.

Skills & Qualifications:


    • Education: Bachelor’s degree
    • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in maritime operations, with a focus on maintenance and repair management.
    • IICL certification
    • Proficiency in the use of office software and M&R management tools.
    • In-depth knowledge of maritime container repair processes, particularly for dry and reefer containers.
    • Strong technical background in the maintenance of mechanical and refrigerated equipment.
    • Fluent in English (both written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to supervise, train, and guide a team of experts, agents, and contractors.
    • Strong leadership qualities with a focus on process optimization, cost management, and quality control.
    • Willingness to travel within the assigned region to audit, monitor, and manage M&R activities.
    • Ability to handle urgent technical issues and manage crisis situations effectively.
