Job Description

Key Responsibilities:


1. Transportation Management:


  • Oversee First Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile delivery operations.
  • Manage dedicated trucks on both a monthly and trip basis, ensuring accuracy in KM verifications through GPS systems and actual odometer readings.
  • Handle Over Dimension Cargo, ensuring compliance with lashing and securing processes.
  • Manage time-bound express deliveries for online clients and bulk movements from ports, including export/import and break-bulk operations.
  • Optimize FTL, LTL, PTL, and LCL shipments, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation.
  • Supervise temperature-controlled deliveries and customized vehicle transportation.

2. Logistics and Vendor Management:


  • Oversee vendor management for all vehicle types, including closed vehicles, open trailers, and specialized transportation.
  • Ensure proper documentation for vehicles, including RC, Insurance, Permits, and Pollution Certificates.
  • Handle reverse logistics and hub management, ensuring smooth operations and fulfilment.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure the on-time placement of vehicles as per SLAs and maintain quality delivery performance.

3. Client and Operations Management:


  • Manage customer relationships across various sectors, including Auto Mobility, Consumer, Energy & Chemicals, Engineering & Manufacturing, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Retail, and Technology.
  • Lead route planning, cargo securing, and mass volume handling processes.
  • Monitor Control Tower operations, ensuring timely tracking of shipments and report generation.
  • Drive revenue growth from existing and new clients by meeting placement and service level agreements.
  • Implement process-driven work methodologies, focusing on continuous improvement and cost optimization.

4. Reporting and Compliance:


  • Prepare and share required MIS and DSR reports with clients, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory requirements during vehicle loading and transportation.
  • Prepare consignment notes, ensure proper lashing and tarpaulin coverage, and take necessary precautions during the rainy season to avoid damage.

5. Process Development:


  • Implement continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Ensure the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across operations and billing processes.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure on-time invoice submission and receivables coordination.
  • Conduct MBR/QBR presentations, highlighting performance metrics such as OTIF, FTPR, and vehicle space utilization.

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in managing First Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile delivery operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Long Haul & Short Haul transportation, Over Dimension Cargo handling, and temperature-controlled delivery.
  • Experience in managing dedicated trucks on both a monthly and trip basis.
  • Proficiency in Transport Management System (TMS) entry, OTM, and related software.
  • Good understanding of RFQ processes, cost working, and pricing strategies based on demand and supply.
  • Experience in managing MNC/Global Key Accounts and delivering presentations (MBR/QBR).
  • Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint (PPT), and Power BI for report generation.
  • Language proficiency: Tamil, English (read, write, speak), and Hindi (speak is a must; reading and writing are optional).
  • Ability to create and share detailed reports, including DSR, MIS, and vehicle utilization reports.
