Project Overview:
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services for a multi-billion dollar renewables and its infrastructure project in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region.
Job Summary:
Bechtel Global Logistics (BGL) is seeking a project Logistics Manager based in Mumbai, India to support the above project. The home office – Logistics Manager will be responsible to supervise logistics personnel and manage the logistics responsibilities on project, within the Supply Chain organization of a global business unit, and/or within corporate Bechtel Global Logistics (BGL) function. The Logistics Manager is responsible for a large sized Project, managing a moderate sized team. Some travel may be required at the request of the Project Supply Chain Manager or BGL Corporate Logistics Manager.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensures that project work is supported with appropriate Logistics staff and approves all Logistics proposal deliverables
- Ensures safety requirements and measures are integrated in all logistics activities, procedures, and goals
- Develops and/or reviews logistics staffing plans and budgets
- Develops and/or reviews logistics execution plans, procedures, and personnel assigned to the project
- Ensures that projects receive logistics support as required during operations
- Monitors performance of clients Logistics Enterprise Agreement and project Service Providers to ensure project support
- Ensures the accurate completion of milestone and performance reports to satisfy project or global business unit information requirements
- Ensures clients Logistics Service Provider Services are acquired in accordance with Project and Bechtel Supply Chain Governance
- Supports client to negotiate Logistics Service Provider agreements to maximize Project and Bechtel’s commercial & technical interests
- Develops logistics reports, metrics, and studies for global business unit management review
- Plans, conducts, or arranges training of logistics personnel to ensure core training requirements are satisfied
- At request of client - Performs domestic and international multi-leg shipment responsibilities in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements
- Establishes and implements logistics plans, procedures, work processes, and resources to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements
- Coordinates shipments with requisite internal and external entities
- Ensures entry of shipment tracking data into Project Supply Chain System and other functional tools/systems to provide visibility shipment status
- Performs project logistics performance reviews within the business unit to ensure project logistics team is executing according to plan & within budget
- Collaborates with fellow project Functional Managers to create and share best practices, procedures, work processes, and logistics knowledge across Bechtel
- Ensures implementation of applicable logistics process improvement initiatives
- Participates in various industry associations, conferences, and seminars to obtain industry contacts and best practices to be shared within and across global business units
- Interacts with project management to review logistics strategies in consideration of cost, risk, and schedule assessments
- Establishes and implements plans, instructions, procedures and work process improvements to ensure the safe, timely and economical delivery of goods to meet requirements on a complex project.
- Provides cost, transportability, service, and terms and conditions analysis as requested by client to assist with project proposals, materials/equipment purchases, and the selection of Logistics service providers.
- Represents Logistics at supplier/contractor kickoff meetings to review supplier/contractor delivery and Bechtel/Project Logistics requirements contained in clients purchase and contract documents.
- Supports client when requested to prepare and present Logistics service provider bid tabs, commitment authorizations, and contract documents for approval by project and or client management.
- Support Client who will Negotiate their own Logistics service provider agreements to maximize Projects commercial and technical interests.
- Supports Client to Develop Logistics costs, job-hour requirements and reports for project budget formation and management.
- Prepares Logistics studies including site and service provider facility visits on behalf of client.
- Establishes with Client regarding their process for Filing and resolving Logistics Service Provider claims and clear division of responsibility and escalation process.
- At request of Client - Oversees Logistics service provider performance to ensure services are carried out as contracted for and to ensure that project requirements are satisfied.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
- Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13 to 15 years of relevant experience or 17 to 19 years of relevant work experience.
- Home, Field and deployed project experience preferred.
- Chain of Responsibility (CoR)/ Transport Assurance proficient knowledge
- Experience with large scale projects and/or Infrastructure/Renewable projects highly regarded
