Job Description


  • We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Legal Counsel to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in providing legal guidance and support to the company, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations across multiple countries. The Legal Counsel will work closely with the executive team and various departments to address legal issues and facilitate the company's growth and expansion.

Responsibilities


  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, data protection, and corporate governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, agreements, and legal documents, ensuring that the company's interests are protected and that all legal requirements are met.
  • Monitor and assess changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations, and provide guidance and recommendations to the executive team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support business decisions and ensure that the company's activities are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and human resources, to address legal issues and provide guidance on legal implications related to business activities and initiatives.
  • Manage and oversee relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities, ensuring effective communication and representation of the company's interests.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures to promote compliance and mitigate legal risks across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications


  • 6+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on corporate law, contracts, and regulatory compliance, preferably within the fintech, technology, or startup industry.
  • JD degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction is required.
  • Strong knowledge of international business laws and regulations, with the ability to navigate and address legal challenges in various countries and jurisdictions (with a focus on with a specific focus on India, UAE, Europe, and North America).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements, with a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of legal implications
  • A strong understanding of and experience in building and managing compliance programs/systems and ensuring compliance across various jurisdictions.
  • A proactive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
