Job Description

Assume a critical role in defining the future of a globally recognized firm and have a direct and significant effect in a realm tailored for top achievers in site reliability.


As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset and Wealth management, you hold a leadership role in your team, demonstrate strong knowledge across multiple technical domains, and advise others on the technical and business issues facing them. Take lead and conduct resiliency design reviews, break up complex problems into digestible work for other engineers, act as a technical lead for medium to large-sized products, and provide advice and mentoring to other engineers. 

Job responsibilities


  •  Ensure day-to-day availability of the system
  • Troubleshoot priority production incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems and ensure permanent closure of incidents.
  • Design, implement and govern monitoring and heath checks
  • Identify application patterns and analytics in support of better Service Level Objectives and track Service Level Indicators to ensure Service Level Agreements are met
  • Design self-healing and resiliency patterns.
  • Engage with development team throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes.
  • Lead the planning and control of the platform’s computing capacity.
  • Build, mentor and manage the team of Platform Reliability Engineers.
  • Assist the 16x5 support team as needed.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Recent experience in successfully leading Application / Site reliability function.
  • Strong experience with log analysis and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk and Kibana, Grafana, Dynatrace.
  • Hands-on experience on AWS services (such as EC2, RDS, CodeDeploy); Queuing and Caching tools (such as RabbitMQ, Redis); Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
  • Proficiency in using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools such as Jenkins, Gradle, Git, etc.
  • Hand-on experience in Python, Shell scripting and PostGreSQL.
  • Thoughtful and proficient at communicating with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstratable ability and empathy in managing a small team.
  • An understanding of industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer, Electronic or IT Engineering.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Domain expertise in capital markets or trading applications will be strongly preferred.
